Hello,
I've recently applied to Lone Star College transition program for T, NH, & M with a score of 7.504. Last year I was placed on the alternate list with a score of 6.9. I'm hoping this time I will get accepted. Has anyone applied yet? If so what is your score and the locations you applied to?

I can tell you that from the Group Me for Transition 2020... there are at least 48 members. We lost people that I know of... at least 3 in the Summer, 1 in the fall and another person in the last semester.
I am surprise there are not more messages for this subject. Maybe everyone is on facebook! Anyway, just wanted to share some knowledge on the Transition Program for NORTH HARRIS.
Summer is going to be your HARDEST semester. Plan early and stay on top. Sometimes work hours will have to be sacrificed to make sure you pass the exams and turn in your assignments. There were LVNs who did not move to N3 because their average was 74.45.... The Nursing Dept will only round the 74.53.
Summer is the HARDEST because your Transition Semester is the combined coursework of N1 and N2 (which generic students learned per semester) and you, LVNS, only have one semester to know the material. Hence you can expect an exam almost every week. We had 6 unit exams in this order: RON/Biopsych, NDEEE, Protect & Regulatory, Oxy/Circ, Neuro/Mus, Mat/Newborn. Each of these exams can cover 15-30 chapters, again you are learning for 2 semesters worth.
Besides exam almost every week, you have to pass the math exam of at least 90 % score (which you get 3 attempts). In addition for the clinical component, you will have Care Plans/Care Maps do which can take 10-16 hrs of your time. My clinical group did 2 of them. Some clinical instructors may require you to write specialty papers also. Since my cohort was in the middle of COVID pandemic, our skills were checked-off virtually. I assume all of you are going to labs, have clinicals and will have a few Vsim assignments. Then turn in your Portfolio. You have a lot on your plate!!
Lastly, at the end of your Transition Summer, there is the HESI Mid-Term. Correlate "the grid" (what will be introduced in orientation) of topics in N1 & N2 with the HESI book and you are good to do well, pass, and move onto N3.
In N3, my cohort had the pharmacology exam the first/second week after orientation. Make a note book of meds during the Summer! We still had the 6 unit exams. Turn in Portfolio. Then there is the final which is given by the Nursing Dept. (not HESI) and you can go over power points and reinforce the lecture stuff by going through the book.
N4.. Still had 6 unit exams, complete portfolio, prepare for nurse interview jobs, and prepare for the EXIT HESI,
Hope this info helps. N3 & N4 was manageable because exams were every 2-2.5 weeks, plus had holidays between. GOOD LUCK!! I am hoping for ALL to make it graduation and cheering for YOU!
@thenightingale Do you know anything about Kingwood's transition program? Have you heard of it being similar to North Harris'? I applied to Kingwood only and haven't seen much about their program on here and I just want to mentally prepare myself if it's anything like your program!!
