Update you guys-

I just spoke to someone from Kingwood and she said that the cut off has been established, :yeah: they have started getting letters ready to be mailed out:yeah:, they should be going out late this week or early next week :yeah:but she can not release the point cut off :crying2: But progress is progress nonetheless so I'll take it.

Everyone that is in nursing school or is currently a nurse has been where you are, so you are not bothering me at all. I remember checking the mail everyday looking for my letter! I hated that there was no mail on Sundays!

Your acceptance letter will have instructions on how to "accept" and therefore secure a spot at a specific campus (Kingwood or Cy-Fair) You will need to fill out the accpetance form and fax, mail or hand deliver. This way they can see if there are open spots for people who choose not to accept and they can add some alternates.

At orientation they will handle info. like making sure all your immunizations are done (or will be in time), how to register for the classes, what books to buy, uniform specifics and other general info. Bring a notepad and pen to jot down info.

Kinwood and Cy-Fair have differently structured programs so depending on where you go the information is presented differently. Cy-Fair is a block program Kingwood is not.

Clinicals have been great. You are not expected to know everything about nursing on the first clinical rotation (or 2nd, or 3rd etc.) They understand that you are a student and are there to learn. Be professional, have a good attitude, come prepared, be on time, and you will do fine. You will come across things you don't know how to do and that is okay. Ask questions, ask for help!

As for advice, two things. Be prepared and have a good attitude. Do your readings, study, ask questions, use your resources to be prepared for class and clinicals. And keep a good attitude, if you go to a clinical site with a bad attitude you will have a bad clinical experience. Period. The nurses are busy and the patients are sick or hurt, they are not there to prop you up. Smile, be helpful and take advantage of every learning opportunity presented to you!

Thank you sooooooooooooooo much Mody. :heartbeat I will have to buy you lunch one day :p

I haven't received anything yet either. I have banned everyone in the house from checking the mail except me until after I get receive my yay or nay in the mail :chuckle You are soooooooo right rj, it's going to be a long weekend. Something tells me though that the letters won't be going out until the end of next week... in the meantime...

Let's start a list of everything that we need to do for after we get accepted i.e., pda's, cpr, background checks, physicals, more immunizations, you know the works?
