I went to the bookstore today and the books came to a total of $775 for all the required books for the 1st semester. That is a savings of about $200 or so. That's awesome!! They did not have alot of the books, I only had about four so I wound up not getting them. I want to purchase them all at the same time. The patches were only $1.00. I'm looking online for my supplies also. Aww, this is so exciting.

Hey i was right next to you then at the bookstore. I am the one who bought the patches. I was carrying a pink laptop. Anyway, so you didn't get them from the bookstore? I wouldn't especially if you had to order them, you might as well order them from amazon.

haha!! That is too funny!! Pink, did you get your Stethoscope or did anyone get their stethoscope yet? If so, which one did you get? I got a Prestige Sprague from the medical uniform store but I tried a Littman and it was so much better, maybe will be better for the price! What do you guys think?

I got a sprague also. The guy at the medical supply store told me that according to his sister, during nursing school she had to replace spragua all the time cause it was 'borrowed' quite often. They gave her lithman when she graduated.

Yeah that's what the woman told me at the store. She said that they get lost quite often during the program from what she has heard from previous students and they also upgrade to a littmann after graduation. I'm trying to talk my dad into buying me a littmann but he's tight so that probably won't happen, I already got a lot out of hubby so he's out of the question too :lol2:

We'll muddle through some how. I did get my new shoes in and the one feels pretty good but the other one will have to wait till the swelling goes down in my foot. It's still pretty tender. I ordered the required books and according to the tracking mechanism, most are in houston at the USPS hub and have been there since this morning but it says delivery isn't until friday or next week. I did order the book for test taking for nursing students or something like that. The list of books they gave us was a little confusing cause some repeated and some where comonents of others so I'm not sure if I'll be missing any. I'll find out soon enough to order more if I have to.

Wow J that was fast!!! I'm trying to get off early tomorrow or take a long lunch break to get my books ordered from the bookstore. I talked to the manager and he said they can be shipped to my house. I thought about ordering them from amazon but my grant will cover a good portion of it and my job will cover the rest. Everything is starting to add up real quick and I will save money where I can.

I went and tried on scrubs today and found the pants I was looking for. They had a string and was elastic in the back. I told the guy I needed teal and it is close to the teal from the orientation so I hope I won't or others won't be penalized if it is not the exact teal color.

Did anyone receive any information on the BON background check yet?

ok so i need some help... I signed up for monday clinical, and lab in the morning on tuesday, and lecture from 12:30-3:30 and pharmacology at night on tuesday. I would like to work 1-6 mon-fri at CSK, but this means i would have to do saturday clinical, and night classes...does anyone know if there is still availability in the night program, and if it is possible for me to be able to get into it?

Thanks ;)

At orientation they had mentioned something about after getting the background checks back that they'd than register us for classes based on our preference list that we turned in and they'd go by the order in which they recieved the apps back to determine who got what schedule. Who knows if they go strictly by that or not. I guess you'd probably just have to call or go in and talk if you want to change your preference and hope for the best. Good luck.

ugh i hope so! working 1-6 mon- fri would be much better then working till midnight some nights at my current job!!!

i can't remember if i responded back here after i spke via email to someone in the nursing dept....basically she can't tell me what number alternate i am, and if i don't get a call by the 1st, 2nd at the latest, week after the semester starts, then i didn't fill a spot...i don't have to do a background check or orientation..the only thing i should do now is check up on all my other vaccinations that are required as well..

i hope to be hearing from them soon! i'm so jealous when i read this thread lol..
