So who's with me? What are your points and where did you apply- Kingwood or Cyfair?
Good luck future nurses
i know how yall feel about the school thing...i only am taking two classes this semester because im done with all my classes...except microbiology..and i started taking BSN classes such as philosophy. I thought i would drop down to two classes to kind of take a load off until nursing school starts and the pressure begins..So are we allowed to wear any shoes we want? I love nike shocks and new balances! I'm guessing as long as they are white we will be ok? I guess we will see.. Is anyone going to be taking RNSG 1172 in the minimester? I will be if I get in..and i was wondering if anyone else would be as well. I have been working towards getting into nursing school for a year and a half now.. i started the fall of 2007
Also...I read that some students are allowed to graduate in the summer instead of the fall...is that an option for those who are wanting and have time to take classes over the summer...or do we all just graduate in the winter? I can't wait to get accepted, complete the program, and become a nurse!! It feels like its so far away...but really its right around the corner
When is the minimester? I'd like to take 1172 at that time. I started the fall of 07 also. I calculated that I wouldnt be done for another year but than all of sudden all the classes I needed were being offered in the summer and than I found myself a year ahead of schedule. I had taken a few college classes many years ago so I was fortunate that most transferred. I don't plan on going for my BSN but you never know. Time is not on my side as I am older than most other students. Have you had your CPR class yet?
I haven't taken Pharm yet but I am 1 class away from having all my pre-reqs for my BSN, I only have Statistics left. I love Nike Shox too, that would be awesome if we could wear them. If I do have to take 1172, I hope to take it during the mini also but I have went to school for Medical Assisting, never sat for the certification but actively worked as a PCA/Nursing Assistant for almost four years... I have been doing pre-reqs since 2001, on and off, pregnancy here and there and life through me off more than once so that's why I am so frustrated. I finally apply and the letters are taking forever and a day to be mailed. I have been waiting seven years on and off, what's another week, right
I spoke with somebody in the nursing dept today and she said that there were 40 spots, plus the 10 alternates..it also depends on if i am alternate number 1 or number 10 lol...hopefully closer to 1! I also asked her is it is possible to be an alternate aty both schools and she said no, but she didn't seem to sure....plus i was under the impression that people could be accepted into more than one program? and since they can only accept one, then that spot would go to an alternate?? I could've sworn I read that on here somehere but maybe not...
plus when i told my professor about me being an alternate, she said it looked good because some may get into more than one campus so obviously she is under that impression as well...
but I have no clue lol..maybe texastee knows...she seems to know it all ha!
anyways, hopefully y'alls letters come in tomorrow!

I don't know the answer to that one But I can try to find out for you!
Hey guys, congrats to those who have gotten in or are an alternate. There are usually a few students who get accepted to other programs and decide not to attend Lonestar so some spots should open up for alternates.
Regarding the uniform at Kingwood, white top, teal pants, white shoes with a closed back. As long as the shoes are solid white and without decorations you should be fine. Just make sure they are super comfortable since you will be standing/walking for hours. Also, make sure they are slip resistant.
Regarding the Kinwood graduation, the traditional track usually graduates in the Fall and the transition (lvn/paramedic to RN) graduates in the summer. There can be spots for the traditional track to graduate in the summer if the transition class is small or transition students choose to take the summer off. Granted this is always subject to change, but that is how it is structured currently.
There is an actual name for the teal but I forget, something like ocean mist??? Any of the uniform stores in the area should know the required color because they are used to students coming in and asking.
I bought mine at a nursing supply store in The Woodlands because they give a 10% discount and carry a large selection of sizes (for short people like me) and many different white scrub top styles. I can't remember the name but you can PM me and I'll give you directions.
I don't know exactly what the crocs look like, but as long as they don't have the holes in the front and have a closed back they should work. The problem with a strap is that they can leave your heel exposed, your preceptor may/may not care.
I suggest you ask durring your clinical orientation at the beginning of the semester.
Thanks Mody :heartbeat One more question- Can we wear street clothes to lecture/theory or do we have to wear scrubs?
Rj and ocutepink-
I spoke to the secretary this morning and she said the letters are not going out until Monday... they have said something different almost everyday this week that I have called and I am now under the impression that the letter will just come when it comes, yay or naym I'm tired of worrying so much because it is truly stressing me out. I'm not myself at work or at home and it's taking a toll on me so I need to chill out.
Rj when you check the mail this afternoon please post if there was anything because I don't know who to believe at the school anymore. :zzzzz
Hi Mody. Thanks for all the information. Do you wear the uniforms during class or just during clinicals? Do you have to have them the first day of class. Also, I understand there's a ton of books. Do you bring all the books with you each day of class? I haven't heard wether I'm accepted/rejected/alternate yet and I hope that I'm not jinxing myself by asking these questions either.

What other classes are you taking T. I'm just in pharm. That's the end of the road for me. No more classes until I get in the program. I just purchased some new balance 926 shoes (all white) . Very comfortable. As far as open heals, I doubt that they allow them. Well, I work at labcorp as the safety officer and we don't allow them in biohazardous areas. They do have nursing crocks now so who knows. I have trouble wearing crocks. I find that my toes unconsciously hold on to the shoes. I grip with my toes I guess. How long have ya'll been working toweards the RN program?
