Hey there!
I wanted to start this page for anyone who is applying for the Spring 2018 Lone Star ADN or LVN program! I've seen previous posts, from previous years, and everyone was really helpful and encouraging to one another.
I am taking A&P 1 over the summer (starts 7/13) and then I will be submitting my application!! Im so nervous. I already took the HESI and got a score on 90.8%, which gives me and 3.6 on the point scale. I have an A in Eng 1301 and hope to get an A in A&P this summer.
In the fall I am taking A&P2 along with Micro (ugh). So if anyone else is in the same boat, let me know!!!
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from everyone
I have a workup on a paper regarding getting a B and it showed that you multiply the points (4=A, 3=B...) times the hours, you get 12. Do that twice, (one for each course, which both will equal 12), you'll get 24 and you divide that by 7, which gives you a 3.4285... But yea, I'd definitely confirm that and give them a call tomorrow.
Yes, Walgreens will just state "Hep B immunization". I'm currently getting my booster there. Are you needing to do the full series or a booster?
I'm not sure which one I need. I had to turn in my Hep B for Paramedic school and all I had to do was turn in my shot record. I had a series of three done when I was little. I was never told to do a titer or anything else. I've worked in hospitals so, I know I had a booster done a year ago.

You'll need to show record of your Hep B series and a positive titer, so I'd definitely go and do the titers first, for proof of immunity. Make sure you ask for a quantitative titer for Hep B(it'll show a numerical value of immunity). You'll also need your High School transcript, FERPA form and an advising transcript you can print out from My Lonestar or visit an advisor. Make sure you also have shot records for all the rest, too.
Do the Hep B shots give you a lifetime of immunity? I just found my shot records, and it looks like I got the 3 shot series in 1994. I Googled it and got mixed answers. Hoping I only need the titer and not the shots again!
No, it doesn't. I had my 3 shot series in 2004 and my titers came back negative. But you only need the first booster to apply.
Hey guys,
So I just went ahead and got my Hep B again (even though i got it last friday at IMU immunization clinic),
and at Express Family Clinic it is indeed $25 per shot as Liz said. It a little far of a drive for me (55 mins) but 25 vs 170? I'd take that.
I've read that after doing the series 2 times, If your titer still comes back negative then you would be considered a non responder/ non converter and wouldn't need anymore Hep B shots according to the CDC.
I wonder if we could sign some type of waiver for immunizations as well. Because it would suck if some people just dont convert
Hey everyone!! I just finished A&P 1 yesterday, and I received an A!!!! I am so excited. So that makes my total score a 7.6. I am just waiting for the grades to be posted so I can finish the application. Anyone taking A&P 1 should definitely look for Dr. Erik Hoyer (Cy-Fair). Seriously the best teacher. He is very clear on what to expect on tests, and everything is based off of his notes.Anyone taking A&P 2 and Micro this fall?? I am taking both classes at night.
Good luck to everyone that has applied!! Now we wait....
Congratulations, I am taking A&P 2 this fall, but on Saturday mornings. I was thinking about taking Micro as well, but I am afraid of taking 2 science courses together, since I am still working full time and have young kids that keep me super busy. Good luck this semester and let me know about your Micro class :)
