2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

Hey guys, I am a current ADN student at Tomball! If yall have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Good luck! ;)

hi i have the HESI tomorrow so scared! can you give an example of critical thinking questions have no idea on that part. what was your score? and what was the last score they accept?

do you know anybody who is international that has to take TOFEL test as post admission prerequisites

Hello. On the critical thinking portion they give all correct answers. There is no wrong answer. They just want the "best" answer if that makes sense.

was it specific nursing question or it was simple and anyone can answer them

Honestly its been a while since I took the HESI so I don't really remember what the critical thinking part consisted of.

This thread is old but the info is still helpful!

Hey! I got into north Harris which is the same curriculum as tomball I believe. How was the first semester !? Any insight would be great!! Thanks!

Congratulations! :)

First semester wasn't too bad, it's just difficult to adjust to the NCLEX style questions and trying manage clinical, lab and your theory class.

Do lots of NCLEX practice questions, any you can get your hands on. That will help tremendously! I bought the Saunders NCLEX book my second semester and I definitely wished I had gotten it for first as well, so if you can afford an extra 40-60$ then I would get that book.

Don't stress yourself out trying to read ALL of the assigned reading pages, there will never be enough time to get through it all lol. Just look at what topics or diseases were discussed in class and read on those.

Find an organized way to study all of the information, don't just try to read over your notes. I make a disease sheet for that disorder and fill it will all of the important information that I could be tested on. Such as Patho, Signs and Symptoms, Causes, Assessment Focus, Diagnostics, Medical Treatment, Nursing Diagnoses, Nursing Care/Interventions, Meds, Patient Teaching, and Complications.

Hope this helps some!

hi everyone i took the hesi yesterday and got 86.8%

i got 100% in anatomy and 90% in math but my weakest part was English especially vocabulary plus it was super long.

i have A in A&P 1 and 2, and B in Engl 1, but I am retaking it to get A. I hope I can make it for ADN

Get that A in English and you should get in!!

yeah i hope i will get that A in engl. i saw that u have been accepted with a score of 6.96 i have now 6.97 but with that A i will have 7.4, just in case i didnt get that do u think i have chance to get accepted with 6.97 score plus i have 770 in critical thinking :(

You could get in as an alternate , but if you have time to retake English before the application period I would. I had to apply with that score bc I didn't have time to retake AP. I was signed up to take it this summer in case I didn't make it in ... luckily I did so I dropped the class. Next application period only cy fair and kingwood will be accepting so less campuses open means more applicants per campus which may make it even more difficult. I would strongly consider retaking English, 7.4 is a solid score and I would be pretty sure that would get you in!
