2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls

Published

Hi there!!!! So I have been reading the "Hopefuls" forums from previous years and decided that it is time to start our own. I believe that this is a great way to support each other and compare our HESI scores. So here we come, all of the Lone Star students who are planning on applying for the ADN program please share your scores. I am applying to Kingwood for the spring semester 2017. My HESI score is 7.45 and I am a little bit worried that this could be not enough. :sorry:

Kingwood! DO NOT CHOOSE CYPRESS. They have the highest failure rate out of all of the campuses, and is the only campus that has a Block Curriculum which is much more difficult (which says a lot!). Kingwood and the other campuses have an integrated curriculum which is MUCH easier to grasp. Also I heard Kingwood was the best campus. I am starting the program this Fall at North Harris, but just wanted to let you know what I heard.

I'm starting North Harris in the fall as an alternate I just answered your previous question on the other form about the drug test. Who told you about the failure rate at the Cypress location? Glad I didn't get into there it was originally my first choice!

cypress? oh you mean the Cyfair program is the hardest? but i have heard that the kingwood integrated program is harder because you learn somthing this semester and you still have to learn it next semester and be tested on it, but in cyfair you just learn it once and you are done. correct me if i am wrong

I heard that from a few people at the nursing orientation. One of the girls said she knows a few people who did not make it through the program at Cypress, and that they said it was very difficult and congested. While she was telling me that the girl on the other side of me (I was sitting between them), confirmed that she heard the same thing. Also it is the only campus that has a block curriculum which for some reason makes people think it's easier but it's not. The integrated program is the easiest (especially for people who have never stepped foot in a hospital) because it progresses from the easiest nursing concepts, to the most complex. Also I heard from one of the girls that she personally knew 2 people who just finished the program at North Harris (one of which who previously failed out of the program at HCC (they have a block curriculum!)). Also thanks for the response about the drug test. I am crossing my fingers and hope they will call me this week so I can enjoy the rest of my Summer.

Good Afternoon all,

I have just submitted my request to be removed from the accepted Cy-Fair Lonestar ADN program, so heads up to an alternate, who may be recieving a call. Good Luck guys! I will be doing my BSN at UTH SON downtown, so still nursing, just different side of town. :-)

to students who are in the ADN kingwood program, why are the kingwood's courses completely different from the cyfair program?

Were you accepted into any programs?

not yet, I am just hesitated which campus should I apply to cyfair or Kingwood. so i was looking at the courses and i saw that the kingwood program has less clasess than the cyfair one

I haven't read of much people applying right now. Is the Fall busier than the spring?

Hey everyone. I was at a 7.4 and I just retook my HESI on Friday and got a 94.8 which bumped my score up to a 7.76. My first pick is Cyfair. I would rather go to Montgomery but I don't want to wait another semester to apply. Does anyone know how many applicants they accept? Also does anyone know when we are suppose to hear if we got accepted or not? I'm having a hard time getting in contact with the nursing department.

Natj23 I am currently in the program at Cyfair. You will get in. They accept 50 students. Your score is great!!! Congrats!!!! They do take a long time to answer the phones or any emails when you are trying to get in. Even orientation and schedules were given out about 2 weeks prior to classes but then Harvey happened.
