Loma Linda Nursing Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I am applying to LLU BSN program to start in Fall of 2018. I just wanted to start a forum and see how everyone is doing, and help each other with updates.

I actually got a call from Dora to have my interview. Does every qualifying applicant get an interview or only the potential candidates to be admitted get an interview?

Thank you

Sure... You do your Fafsa once per year and take the loans out as needed, so I’ve only taken out loans for my first 3 quarters, and I am in the process now to finance the next 3 quarters. Basically, it is costing me almost $40k per year so at the end of the program, I will have probably about $90-100k or so in debt.

That sounds about right. ? do u know the interest rate? What type of loan?

Yep, but I think it’s worth it for the quality of education you will get. I love it so far and this school wants you to succeed so they offer many resources to help you... Like I said, I had to take out private loans for what federal loans didn’t cover. Everybody qualifies for different amounts from federal, so depending on what you qualify for, you’ll need to find financing for the difference. My private loan is about 6% interest I believe and I’m not sure about the fed loan; probably about the same. I’m just glad that I have them deferred and I don’t have to worry about it until I have a job after graduation. If you really want to go to LLU, you can find a way through financing options. Like most, I didn’t think I could afford it because I literally had no help but thank goodness for loans! ;) Hope it all works out for you. I’m happy to help answer any questions you may have ?

So glad to hear that you love the program ! Did the financial advisor at the school help you figure all this out or did you have to do it on your own ? And any thing ou recommend to get prepared beforehand for the program? Also, how do you think it will be for someone with two small kids ?

My friend grad from LLU and had two small kids, she had a great support system. I myself have two small kids too! LoL

That’s awesome! Glad to know I won’t be the only one with kids ?

I have a friend that goes to llu as well, she told me that if you get a job at loma linda after you're done your loans can be forgiven through a repayment plan. That's how it was described to me, is this true?

Just curious what gpa/teas got you all in? Thanks!

Science GPA was 4.0, over all I’m not even sure because I got my undergrad 10 years ago and I know it’s wasn’t great. My TEAS was 75 critical thinking was 21

So you have to get an award letter when you complete the fafsa and all that and basically, yes the advisor told me how much I needed to take out. Also, keep in mind that I only took out what I needed to cover tuition and books/supplies so I’m not sure what your situation is and if you need more for housing and whatnot. I personally do not have children, but many of my classmates do and they do just fine.

Hey guys, to all the students already enrolled. Is anyone taking an accelerated track or have reviews on the different tracks given by the nursing school?
