Loma Linda Nursing Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I am applying to LLU BSN program to start in Fall of 2018. I just wanted to start a forum and see how everyone is doing, and help each other with updates.

I actually got a call from Dora to have my interview. Does every qualifying applicant get an interview or only the potential candidates to be admitted get an interview?

Thank you

Hi everyone! I applied to Loma Linda for Winter 2021 and was hoping you guys could give me some advice regarding the interview and basically anything else you guys would like to add would be helpful. I actually have my interview on Friday 8/14. Thank you all so much in advance! I hope you can help me and others applying for Winter out.

Hey! I'm in the program right now but have a friend applying for Winter 2020 as well! For the interview, they really want to get to know you as a person. They already know your stats and your resume history so just elaborate on the interesting things they might not know of you on paper and would set you apart from other applicants. They ask scenario type questions like "tell me of a time you stood up to help someone else, how did you approach the situation?" or "tell me of a time you went out of your way to help someone else." I even got asked questions about what hobbies I liked. They really just want to get to know you and your interviewer advocates for you when committee meets up to discuss applications and who gets into the program so it is very important to make a great impression! Hope that helps a little ?

Thank you so much! This really helped a lot :) CONGRATS on getting it!! How do you like the program? And that's awesome! Hopefully, your friend and I both get accepted. If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats when you applied?

Since you are already in the program, what kind of people would you say get accepted? My stats aren't that great. I have an overall 3.5 GPA, 73 on the TEAS, and 18 on the critical thinking test. Do you see people with these kinds of stats being accepted? Or would you say they only admit students with higher scores and GPA? I'm just feeling super nervous because I didn't get accepted to the last program I applied to. I want to make sure my interview goes really well but I'm scared at the same time.

My GPA was a 3.5, my critical score 16 and my TEAS an 82. I was concerned about being accepted as well, however, each quarter varies on average GPAs. Winter quarter is a 3.5 I believe which puts you right where you need to be. As for everything else, I believe as long as you pass it is more on how you do on your interview on displaying your work ethic and preparations for nursing school. If you don't get in though, don't get too down, there are lots of programs and other opportunities. When my friend didn't get into the Winter quarter they saved her a slot for Spring.

Thank you so much! It's just so competitive now in California that I'm hoping to get accepted to at least one program. What quarter did you get accepted for? Also, how would you describe the interview? Was it super nerve-wracking or was the interviewer pretty nice?

I want to make sure my interviewer really likes me and I want to be able to show them that I really have a passion for nursing. Do you have any advice on how I could do this without sounding too conceited?

If you don't mind me asking, what were your friend's stats? I heard about them saving slots for people for the next quarter. Does this mean that the cohort will be bigger since they will be accepting new applicants along with some people they have already reserved spots for?

How long were your guy's value essays? I was under the impression we would only have one essay, I wasn't expecting all the value essays!

Hey, hope your interview went well! Honestly, I love the program here at LLU. The professors and clinical instructors always want to help you and most make themselves available outside of class to help out with any questions. They really try to be as helpful as they can and try to get to know all their students. Don't be shy to ask instructors for help because it can only benefit you in the future when you need letters of rec. As Jab22 mentioned the stats vary per quarter but I applied with a GPA of 3.7, TEAS of 86 and critical thinking 20. I have seen a variety of stats get accepted, I believe the interview has a lot to do with this.

I do not recall my friends stats, hut I was accepted into fall quarter (we applied at the same time). As for the interview, I was very nervous at first, but as it went on I became less nervous. It was mostly a conversation about my life, some questions were about my character, why I wanted to become a nurse, what attributes I had that could make me a good nurse, my tolerance of other religions and how I responded to bad grades. I would say be honest, open and passionate about why you want to be there. There cohort sizes are the same I believe, they just reserve spots since many people reapply. Lastly, the essays were somewhatong, but I remember mine getting shorter with each question LOL.

Thank you both so much! I’m nervous to hear back from them ?

I was accepted for Winter 2021!

Congratulations! I was wondering how you did on your TEAS, the critical thinking test, and how your interview went? I had my interview this week, and I stuttered so much and asked her to start over twice because I was so nervous.

Dora had told me I had a good chance of getting in, depending on how the interview goes. But I'm afraid the delivery of my answers were too jumbled.

TIA and congrats again!
