New grads:

Did anyone else apply to Loma Linda Children's Hospital's new grad program this past week? I just thought I'd start a thread for those that did, so we can keep each other updated as far as getting calls for interviews, preparing for the interview.... or, alternatively, commiserating about yet another rejection letter!

Hey ebrivero...! Congrats on getting a call, I'm just wondering which unit called you? I applied to intermediate icu.. I hope to hear back from them soon ;)

Let's hope tomorrow or Friday is a really good day for all of us!!! Ring, phone, ring!!!!! :redpinkhe

Hey passionlove! I actually didn't hear back from them, it was a friend of mine for the NICU. My three choices were: peds intermediate ICU, PICU, and NICU. Do you know how many they are planning on hiring for peds intermediate?

Maybe they are going unit by unit for interviews.

@ebrivero: I have no idea for peds intermediate. I hope a lot so we can all get hired :)

@princess pickles: sounds like they're contacting by units!

@mistersimba: don't lose hope, u haven't gotten your rejection letter yet right? & yea I agree ring phone ring!

Hi everyone! I also applied and have my heart set on NICU. I received the e-mail that my app was forwarded to a manager, but still no call. This waiting is torture!!

I logged on to my Loma Linda account, and for some reason it lists 2 applications for the New Grad residency, with 2 different ref#s. The second one is dated a couple of days ago...just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

Specializes in ER.

I spoke to the HR today and was told me they selected the people who live the closest to the hospital and who have a lot of yrs experience with peds.

You're joking, right? It's a new grad residency, therefore, none of the applicants are going to have "a lot of years of experience with peds." My classmate that got an interview for NICU has NO experience with peds, and lives in San Diego...not exactly close to the hospital.

I got an e-mail today that my application "has been reviewed by a recruiter and will be forwarded to the appropriate manager for review."

I'm pretty sure they're going in alphabetical order by the applicant's last name. My classmate that got a call on Tuesday has a last name that starts with a B, and mine starts with a P.... It's just a theory, but we shall see! ;)

Well I'm telling you what ---- the HR told me, when I said peds experience she was saying as LVN, CNA, volunteering, etc. Your friend got lucky then, they did pick some in dif areas but mostly close to Loma Linda.

Why are you making it sound like they're done choosing people for interviews? They're still in the middle of reviewing applications. I just got my e-mail this morning that my application was forwarded to managers.....

I never said they are done chosing people for the interviews.

I applied to a dif new grad program earlier and got an email stating even though they like my certs and qualifications but they are looking for people with more experience. So I'm shocked about that too, its a new grad program.

Yup, I just checked. It said January 3rd (the day I applied) and then January 17th, each with a different reference #

Weird.....
