New grads:
Did anyone else apply to Loma Linda Children's Hospital's new grad program this past week? I just thought I'd start a thread for those that did, so we can keep each other updated as far as getting calls for interviews, preparing for the interview.... or, alternatively, commiserating about yet another rejection letter!
Just FYI, one of the guys in HR said that they only send your application to the unit that you chose as your 1st choice. The units that you chose as your second and third choice don't get your application. Damn HR people......
Based on my experiences over the past few months, I have coined a couple of new terms:
Human Resourceless
Nurse (Non)Recruiter
Sorry, can't help myself!
Hope the NICU interviews are over and went well. Maybe now we can move onto PICU...
Based on what HR said, they only give your application to the unit you picked as your first choice, so those of us that picked NICU are not getting a chance at interviewing for our second and third choice units...
Also, a friend who interviewed for NICU said it was a lot of "tell us about a time when...." questions. I don't understand why they would ask questions like that in an interview, as opposed to scenario questions like "one of the infants is presenting with symptoms of x, y, and z....what do you suspect, and how would you proceed?" Scenario questions would actually show how well you prepared for the interview, as opposed to how good you are at lying and making up stories on the spot!

I have interviewed with Loma Linda before for an adult ICU unit and yes, they do use behavioral interview questions. It would help to practice answering those questions beforehand if contacted for an interview.
I haven't been called for an interview but I have already accepted an offer from Cedars-Sinai. Good luck to you all! Last week, one of my references texted me and told me that she received a call from the peds educator asking about me. I have no idea where they are in the process with the other units besides NICU but I thought perhaps you guys would like to know that?

I got three emails that my application was being forwarded to a manager. Two of the emails had the same reference number and the other one had a different one. Maybe the different numbers mean that they were sent to different units?
