Loma Linda Accelerated BSN '09/ CA school Applicants

Published

Hello,

I have an interview with loma linda for the accelerated BSN program next week. Has anyone other applicants gone through it yet? What type of questions can I expect? Also, does anyone know if the chances of acceptance are good after a passing interview (the percent of interviewees accepted)?

I'm also applying to Mt. St. Mary's, Western U for entry level masters, and some cal states, most of these applications are due Nov. 1, 2008 or later, or early next year.

Thanks!

I had an interview for Loma Linda a few weeks ago, i am not applying for the accelerated program, just the normal one, but i know that the questions they ask are the same.

When you arrive you they will give you a prompt and ask you to write a short essay. It says something like ....in nursing you will work with many different kinds of people from different cultures etc, what experiences have you had that will benefit you and help you to work with a diverse population( like i said not word for word but thats the jist of it) She will ask you the basic questions, why do you want to be a nurse? What do you think a nurse is? Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years? She will ask why you want to go to Loma Linda. I know there were some other questions,i just dont remember exactly. but it is very comfortable, she is very very nice and not intimidating a bit. You shouldnt worry at all. As far as statistics go, i wish i knew that myself. I do know that the interview is an important part of their decision making process, but like with every other school GPA and your test scores are important. The cool thing about Loma Linda is that they are very personal so from what i hear they put more weight on the interview than most schools do. I hope this helps, im sure you will do great! Let me know if I can help you with anything else. and Goodluck!

What was there GPA requirement? Im actually very close to Loma Linda & i've always thought about applying there. I'm very close to being done with my Pre Reqs & i have a 3.4.... Is that enough for Loma Linda?

ya. a 3.4 is good. They require a 3.0 to get an interview. Many people have been accepted with a GPA similar to yous from what i have heard. you should have no problem if your interview goes well and you pass the two entrance exams. but id definately say go for it!

i'm gonna have my interview tommorow. thx, kerkins08. i actually sign up just to thank you!

aww well thanks. i know how intimidating it can be so im glad i could help! im sure you did great! Let me know how it went!

I just got the call this afternoon for an interview for LLU ABSN Fall 2009 program! I am so excited. For those of you who had the interview for Spring...did you end up attending LLU? Why or why not?

nope...way too expensive and they didnt fund me all the way.

yeah, i'm in loma linda now. thanks to kerkins08 it's really nice here, i like it. well, i decided to go here because none of the community college i applied to accepted me, and i just wanna get my rn and get a job. IT IS expensive!

If you don't mind me asking...how much is it costing you to attend LLU? I saw under my financial aid status that they were estimating $43,000. My mom lives there and I would be living at home in my old room for the time being. So that would cut living expenses down by about $12,000 or so. Do you live at home or on your own? I'm asking because I was accepted to CSUN and now possibly LLU and I have no idea what I should do.

for this quarter:

tuition for 17 units + enrollment fee = $9333

housing (two people per room) = $815

food = $200 personal, no meal tickets or plan

books = borrowed from friends

i don't have a car, so no car payment, insurance, gas, etc.

the nice thing here is people are really friendly, they lend you books, give you rides, and the teachers are super nice. i mean really really nice. they want you to success.

if you got into csun, go there! save money. i had no choice to go to loma linda since no one accepted me.

oh, is it csu northridge? or some other private college?

Thank you for your input! Yes, it is Cal State Northridge. I like the fact that CSUN's cohort is only 18 students, so it's small and cohesive. The thing I like about LLU is that it is a Medical University and Christian/Seventh Day Adventist. I hear the professors are great and (like CSUN) they want you to succeed. I don't know if CSUN is that much cheaper...I believe it's around $8000 or so per semester for tuition. I am still waiting to get more information from them. We'll see. I'm glad I have a few options, I just want to make sure I am making the right choice.
