  1. I agree. Especially here in California, they have been so bombarded by applicants they ignore everyone. I am actually understanding of the fact that they send everyone the same rejection letter, and that they do not have time to call every single person... I would honestly probably do the same. What I do not understand however, is when members of HR and nurse recruiters have lost that touch of grace or empathy for all the people (fellow nurses) out there who are desperate, have bills to pay, and would like an honest chance at an opportunity with their company. I recently received a phone call from a nurse recruiter at St. Bernardine Medical Center who called and said in a rude and condescending manner "we are not interested in someone with YOUR profile" basically telling me to quit applying to their hospital. I never even interviewed with them ?!!!, and had received their auto-rejection email. I did not need to receive that phone call, the email was clear enough that they do not hire new grads. Basically she just called to jab the needle a little deeper. There was no empathy. After she went on how they would never consider a new grad such as myself.... I was just shocked and silent, and then responded "that is fine, bye bye". I wish I could have said "Did you call to help me or hurt me?". The answer would have been obvious. That being said, I have also had contact with pleasant recruiters who have been helpful in the application process and answered questions. Ones that upon giving you the update after interview that they had selected someone else, have been more graceful and understanding. Treating the applicants like they would want to be treated if it was them in these shoes.
  2. So did you ladies end up getting an offer? I also interviewed at JFK and got the notice today that another candidate was selected. This is getting pretty discouraging, but I'm trying to keep thinking it just wasn't meant to be. :::::::::::::::positive thoughts positive thoughts!::::::::::::::::::::
  3. I did not have a rotation at this hospital, but i did not get past the first interview. Maybe that's one of the reasons I didn't get past it. It's so hard these days! I'm not even sure how to stand out... we are all new grads, and many of us deserve the job!!
  4. Congrats on the job offers btw!
  5. Some experienced nurses have told me that it important where you start. I personally would take the teaching hospital job and move closer if possible. I was a CNA in and SNF facility, and I would rather be an RN in an acute setting. But ultimately, it really depends on where you want to end up. If you want to end up in a critical care unit soon, then I would definitely start at the teaching hospital. I think with only SNF experience, it may still be difficult to find a hospital job closer to your current home in a couple years, unless something miraculous happens with our economy does a 180 and the nursing shortage surges again. If you don't mind staying within SNF for a while, go for it. Maybe you can ask to shadow the place?
  6. The trick worked for me too! I got my results after 2 business day by checking the BON website.
  7. I have went through the first phase of Placentia Linda's interviews a couple weeks ago. Have you heard anything from them? Good luck!
  8. Hello, I have an interview with loma linda for the accelerated BSN program next week. Has anyone other applicants gone through it yet? What type of questions can I expect? Also, does anyone know if the chances of acceptance are good after a passing interview (the percent of interviewees accepted)? I'm also applying to Mt. St. Mary's, Western U for entry level masters, and some cal states, most of these applications are due Nov. 1, 2008 or later, or early next year. Thanks!
  9. Hello, I have an interview scheduled next week for the LLU accelerated bsn program. I was wondering if you know the chances of getting in after a good interview (percentage of interviewees accepted). Also if you had one, what questions do they ask?
