Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) defended Anthony S. Fauci on Tuesday after he sparked a fresh wave of conservative criticism with a warning that reopening the country too soon amid the novel coronavirus pandemic could lead to avoidable “suffering and death.”

I can't wait until things are back to normal. I'm losing my mind. But I do think we need to be cautious. Opening businesses back up last month (as some states did) is just a bit crazy to me.

I do hope to see more businesses open by Memorial Day here in NJ.

We are opening slowly in Washington State. Counties, mainly the less populous ones, are starting to open. Our county is still in "Phase One", but I think we are on track to move to "Phase 2" by the 1st of June. I am so ready!

I agree with Representative Liz Cheney about Dr. Fauci. Recently when interviewed by a sports reporter Magic Johnson said that he would not be alive if not for Dr. Fauci. Dr. Fauci contributed to the research on the first drugs that helped HIV become a chronic illness instead of a death sentence.

One of our posters stated never heard of Dr. Fauci and thought he was gradstanding. I was working on a Telemetry/Respiratory care unit in 80's when we had young men with muscle wasting, febrile illness develop respiratory failure due to pneumonia cystitis carinii and die; a few had Kaposi's sarcoma . ~ 1982 is when I first heard his name due to pioneering HIV work along with formal definition of AIDS. He became director of NIAID in 1984, one year before my first son born -- a time when the Pulmonologist I worked with was concerned about me trying to get pregnant while caring for these patients with unknown possibly contagious illness. Later 80's when women also came down with AIDS. Triple drug cocktails developed during this time totally changed AIDS care and patients survival.

Finally, those in power speaking up for Dr. Fauci.

I also worked on a respiratory unit beginning in 1983. Before that I worked in ICU until they rightly decided to use only RNs.

We had no sharps containers in patient rooms, just one big one in the dirty utility room. We had 27 patients with about half R/O or diagnosed with AIDS. We wore head and shoe coverings, isolation gowns, gloves, and masks. I was SO GLAD when they discovered it was blood only that infected people so we didn't need all that gear.
