living in Glendale vs Scottsdale

U.S.A. Arizona

:lol2: I'm a traveler going to be working at Banner Thunderbird in Glendale, totally new to the area!! What are your thoughts on the Glendale area vs Scottsdale? i'm going to have my housing paid for, so money isn't really an issue, but I'll be working in Glendale, is living in Scottsdale worth the commute, or is Glendale a fun place to live too. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, I'm traveling out there only knowing one other person and am looking to go out to bars occationally and meet people in their late 20's early 30's looking to have fun. Any input on a good place to live...Glendale or Scottsdale? Specific apartment complexes you like are apreciated too!
Specializes in 6 years of ER fun, med/surg, blah, blah.
Sassiebaz, when I came to az as travel nurse I was paid several dollars an hour above what the staff nurses were making at the hospital(John c Lincoln) and apartment was free, paid by agency, and I only had to pay about $35 a month toward utilities. They kept renewing my contract for awhile so that was really great.

Hi! What agency do you work for? I am moving to the Phoenix area very soon & am interested in a traveler position to start out.

I have 6 yrs experience in ED, also Med-Surg, Rehab & Psych, but would prefer to stay in ED. I got on the Scottsdale/Osburn website & they have traveler nursing there too.

Victoriakem, It was so long ago. Probably wouldn't be the same. I just remember it wasn't Cross Country. That one had a bad rep regarding the poor housing they gave the nurses. The one I went through(can't remember name)I think they merged with another one and I don't remember that one's name. Don't see one that rings a bell on this list > http://www.travelnursetimes.com/company3.html

There must be alot of travel nurses on this forum that are working in AZ.

If you really want to get first hand recommendation from one. Call the hospital you want to work for, and get connected with any of the units and see if there are any travel nurses working on the unit and get them on the phone for a minute, say you might want to come there to work and see which agency they use and if they like it. And you can ask them about their housing or anything else. Hey, that's about as first hand as you're gonna get. :D

Hi! I am considering a move to the Phoenix area as a travel nurse. I am offered housing too. What agencies did you like working for the best & how were travel nurses received where you worked? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Snottsdale........been there done that....never again.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I wouldn't drive from Scottsdale to Glendale every day to work. I might drive from Glendale to Scottsdale every now and then to have a night out. Our air is polluted enough. If anybody can live closer to their workplace, I'm all for it! (Of course, it's not always possible here, but if you have an option, it's something to think about.)
