LIU Brooklyn Spring 2018

Published

Hello did not see a thread for LIU brooklyn winter/spring 2018. Has anyone applied yet? if so what was your experience? Anyone have been accepted already?

What has me a little freaking out is the bad reviews on the disorganized administration. So many people say it's easy to get in but hard to get out. However, there's people who graduated and said they had no problems gettin jobs after! I am going to fly up sometime next month to go visit the campus and meet w an advisor and what not!! Is the campus nice?

The campus is nice, I love the gardening and flowers as you enter the school grounds. Yeah, I read that part too about hard to get out, but every time I go there I ask the students with the nursing uniform (gray and white) their take on the program, and for the most part, they said they improved with the disorganization. Also, they advised me to have a specific folder to save all my copies, just in case something goes wrong by mistake. The nursing dept. where you practice is state of the art, because they receive a large donation. They have subway and a yogurt fruit eatery, with huge TV screens to watch a movie, while snacking or on a break.

The school is located downtown-Brooklyn so it's surrounded by many restaurants, shopping centers, and nail salons. If you trying to save money don't bring your wallet--you bound to buy something and you find yourself bargaining with your significant other how the merchandise was a steal, you couldn't resist...lol. I used that excuse so much that, now I just use my big purse when I know I am headed downtown and once I purchase the item(s) I place it in my purse, then throw it in the corner of my closet, until it is safe for me to remove the tag and hang it on a hanger...lol.

Oh, and they have a writing center that is phenomenal. You can join the sorority if you are interested; they also have sports teams, and various clubs you can join. You are guaranteed a job once you graduate from the nursing program, they are that good-that's what the nurses at my job told me.

Hope this info. Helps!

It's definitely helpful!! I have never visited the campus or talked the nursing students their so I wouldn't know! So thank you so much for clearing that up for me. Getting excited!! I will definitely be bringing my lunches from home and well yeah as girl I do love to shop but like you said leave the wallet at home lol. The only class I can say I'm really worried about is pharmacology and I'm not sure if there's another math? I'm just really terrible at math lol but can't avoid those classes. I hope since I will be coming in with my degree I can go straight into the professional phase. Would hate to do another semester of general creds. I've heard some schools will void a pre req that they require if you are coming in with the AA degree

Also I doubt they will tell me over the phone what clases I need to take. I guess I will find out when I meet an advisor!

Don't forget to bring your official transcript.

I hear pharmacology is no joke, also there is the medication dosage calculation--that involves math as well. But the great part is they have a tutoring center, and if you still need help, there is always youtube:)

Check you PM box

You got that right! You have to be there--face to face.

@Cmora12 Unfortunately, something is wrong with LIU my account, so I.T is working on it. I didn't receive an acceptance letter yet; I received an email on my acceptance. Check your spam folder, sometimes if you do not save their email address in your contact, the email will go to your spam folder.

After visiting both schools, I felt much more comfortable at PSON. Because it is a small school everything is laid out and I will be able to get the classes I need each semester. Also, the price is about $20,000 cheaper than LIU's program.

However, I am a bit sad that I will miss out in the beautiful campus and student life at LIU!
