got an interview in a small nsg facility.. I told her all the great things that I can think about myself.. just to get the job.. told her that Im going to work extra hard etc.. etc.. but still she said no.. [why set an interview in the first place if you're just going to say NO right??] so anyway, she said that being a new grad.. NO ONE WILL BE INTERESTED in hiring me.. [i think she's right because i did everything that i can..but still no luck] so i ended up crying and pleading.. told her, how will i ever get an exp. if she's not even going to give me a chance.. if NO ONE's willing to give me a break! then she said that's just how it is.. it's too expensive to train new grads.. you're like a baby.. you don't know anything.. so why should i hire new grads if i can get a nurse with a long list of exp. plus nurses with exp. also needs this job.. it's a tough market..
and so.. with all that pleading and crying.. still went home heartbroken.. still no job.. so heartbreaking.. now im beginning to question why i took this course in the first place..people tend to be so mean sometimes.. I want to be a nurse.. but.. with everything that has happened to me.. very discouraging

hang in there. Im a new grad too, and realize how hard the market is right now. Many of my classmates do not have jobs, and while I know it is so disheartening you need to maintain your confidence in your abilities. I can understand that you cried.. Im sure you were sooo overwhelmed with hopelessness, I probably would have teared up to if I was in your position. BUT instead of crying you really need to exude confidence. Next time you need to make a point of putting emphasis on the POSITIVE aspects of a new graduate RN.. (i.e fresh education, no bad habits that need broken (moldibility!), enthusiasm, etc..) Better luck next time!!

im sorry this happened to you. dont let anyone tell you you have NO exp. bring to the table all the experience you had BEFORE becoming a nurse. spin it and show how an avg nurse's day is lacking bc of that deficiency and how you will be able to solve their problems bc you bring the skill to the table. Turn that frustration to determination!
thank you.. at that moment i felt like 10 guys broke up with me all at the same time.. the humiliation, the pain.. sigh.. thanks for cheering me up!

ugh...I would run from anyplace that doesn't realize that the new blood is what helps us exp nurses learn. sometimes they teach new things in school that we don't know about because we've been gone for a while. Hang in there, something will pan out someday!

I am so sorry for what you are going threw, but don't let that discourage you one bit. Have faith and know that eventually someone will have faith in you. (New Grad)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww...that's so sad!
Look, this lady is just high on her horse because after years of eating crow and begging anybody with a license to work on her unit or in her hospital, she suddenly gets to pick and choose. Let her be all high and mighty. I think you will probably find something eventually, just chalk her up as being a snarky female dog type.
Good luck!
thank you.. i know.. she even told me that she has 4 applicants.. 2 of them has 3 and 10 years exp.. while i have none..
iam hoping for the best.. hoping that God will give me a much better place to work in..soon

If she wasn't interested in hiring a new grad she shouldn't have wasted your time or hers with the interview. We are all new grads at some point in our career so don't get discouraged. You will find a job in time. I promise. Hugs.
