As it is a private school, the costs are significantly higher than a public school. (~$27,000 vs. ~$8,000) But all costs, fees & expenses should be disclosed up front. School is what you make of it. Some people do very well, others don't make it more than a month or so.

You can view their first time NCLEX pass rate on the NJ Board of Nursing website. Now the schools must tell you the number of students admitted who graduated on time and within 150% of the scheduled time. (i.e. if it is a 12 month program, who graduated in 12 months and who graduated in 18 months), also their placement rate for jobs in the field post graduation. They are supposed to offer this information , but you may have to ask.

Hey, I have an appt today to take the TEAS test and to find out info about financial aid. I am hoping to attend the December session. Did you get all the info you needed when you met with them? The only thing I'm worried about is the high cost and if FA will cover any of it. I will post after I get done there. :)

have you guys considered this school? http://www.mcvts.net/mcvts-adult-education.aspx?id=1161

i went there and the tuition was cheap and the program was wonderful. it is located in piscataway, nj. not too far from edison.

Hi

I was just accepted into the program ( Paramus ) last Thursday:yeah: . I went to the open house Wednesday night afterwards took the entrance exam (TEAS) and passed .As for the TEAS TEST it was not so bad. I begin in December. I met with Financial Aide and was approved for the entire program . But I will not be taking out such a huge loan . I will be paying for a good portion of it on my own . Anyway from what I saw so far I seemed to like . The school was set up so professionally . I have seen other schools and liked this the best once I walked through the doors. Even though the cost is more , I need an atmosphere that is going to be able to accomadate students and teach us . Other facilities were so tiny with only 1-2 beds to practice with in the labs . Did not like that .

@gash20 i take the TEAS test on oct 11th ! i will be attending the december session also, well hopefully, as long as everything with the test and the financial aid work out, how did it go for you with the TEAS test? and let me know about the Financial aid!! because if it doesnt cover most of it i wont be able to go there !:crying2:

@aldragonRN, i have been waiting weeks to hear back from that school just about my application, so i went right ahead and checked out lincoln tech, mostly because i can use financial aid at LT ... at the middlesex votech its 5000 dollars out of pocket, and i cant afford that.... so as long as financial aid will cover me until i graduate at LT then thats what i school i will have to attend, thank you though!

@jerseygirl... with the financial aid what do they do? ive never tried with FA before, do they run a credit check or something?

For financial aid you need to complete a form at http://www.fafsa.gov to be eligible for federal financial aid (loans, grants, etc) if the school participates in federal financial aid programs. If you qualify and make appropriate academic progress in the program (attendance, grades, etc.) then you are eligible to get the loans & grants that you qualify for as per the FAFSA.

If the school is strictly private loans, then yes a credit check would be required and often a cosigner.

You have to check if Lincoln Tech is a Title IV school (meaning they are eligible to participate in federal financial aid programs) not all sites are eligible. If not, then the only loans from private lenders (not subject to the rules of federal student loans) and scholarships (as available) can be used for tuition and fees.

Good luck. You should be provided up front with the total cost (including fees & other charges) as well as your eligibility for financial aid.

Nina ,

When I met with Financial aide at Lincoln the first thing the counsler did was complete a FAFSA form . Then she plugs in all the numbers ( you will need to bring your tax returns from the prior year ) this will determine a huge amount that you will recieve . If you made a lot of money last year , you will not recieve that much in financial aide . There are many loans they will also apply for . I did not qualify for any aide due to my high income last year . But I was approved for one pell grant and also approved for funding through unemployment . But I will also be paying a large lump sum of the tuition as well .

You will have no problem getting a loan . They were so nice , they go through every detail of it with you . All options on the loan re-payments and so on .. Which campus will you be attending and when you be starting class ?

I hope I answered your questions, if not please feel free to contact me .

nina

sorry no credit check was done .

no need to be sorry, id rather it that way!! lol im applying to the edison campus. i have a test on oct 11th. so excited!! i dont have any tax returns, could that be a problem? every job i worked was either under the table or i only worked for a few months so i never got a tax return.. could that be a problem
