It's such a broad question with so many variables I doubt many will answer.

Have I seen you post this question before on the "blue side"? If I remember correctly, people were reluctant to answer. Some may view this question as a bit too personal. I would suggest you research NP salaries in the states you might work in. Based on those numbers, you can figure out what kind of lifestyle you'll be able to afford.

I have just changed my hours for summer. I am working 8 to 1p, without lunch, Monday through Friday. I will still take call and I get 8 hours admin time, so this is considered 0.8 FTE. It isn't really, but they count it that way because they are nice I guess, lol.
During the school year I usually work 8:30 to 3:00 (with 30 minutes for lunch), 4 days a week. This was also 0.8.
I really can't answer the "lifestyle" question in such a way that would provide you any insight. We live very well, but this must be credited to income sources other than, and that far exceed my salary, which has been average. The company I work for has revamped the salary structure and as of 1 July I will be getting a significant increase that will propel me a few standard deviations above the average. However, the salary ranges for NPs vary widely across the country and none of these numbers or comments about what we afford would be very helpful to you. I don't see where anyone was responding with negativity. The suggestion to ascertain the typical pay schedules in the area in which you intend to practice is sound. One needs to take into consideration their priorities and the COL, and so forth.
thank you, thats all i wanted to know

Have flown over Everest, laughed with monks and holy men everywhere, have seen bodies cremated at riverside, treated rickshaw kids in Bangladesh, tried to catch a 6 foot monitor lizard in my front yard in Bangkok, have had over 30 types of massage, traveled to over 16 countries, have been naked...never mind, have talked with interesting people all over the place...some still hiding out, have done clinical overseas, have SCUBA dived in Thailand, have seen singing lepers on the side of the road but that group eventually fell apart, have conned Bangkok police who were trying to con me, have seen things that well, never mind. Yes, I have a little money left. This what you want?

Why does it matter what car you drive, or what house you live in?

IMKosher, if you was not going to anwser the question then why comment. If she wants to know what kind of car and house NPs have she has every right to ask that question. what is it to you? gosh yall can be so harsh on here and just beats around the bush it's not a rhetorical question!
There's nothing wrong with asking what kind of lifestyle a NP lives. Why get so personal into what kind of house or car they drive. What if they drive a 911 or Civic? What if they live in a 5-bedroom Golfing Community or a one-bedroom apartment? Like others, i believe it's too personal. Lala what kind of car do you drive? What kind of house do you live in? That is a rhetorical question.
