Being a born again believer in The Lord Jesus Christ, has been good for me. I am a nurse, and every nurse may at some time or other experienced the frustrations, stresses, dissatisfaction, that is experienced by many nurses. Despite it all, I just love nursing. I love to see when my intervention make someone happy. I love to make patient or people in general feel important. When I smile to people, i love the way they respond. The joy I see on their faces makes it very rewarding, even when it seemed that they are angry. I have come to understand how to treat others with kindness even when they may be rude or unfriendly. You may ask, Why? My relationship with the Lord has made it all possible. I just finished studying for my Bachelors Science in Nursing, and I must say, without my solid foundation. I would have been pulling my hair out. I remained positive, while at the same time encouraged other nurses to look on the bright side. I firmly believe, having a relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ will make one a better nurse, because of the love, compassion, empathy, understanding, calmness, and seeing people as unique human beings. All these can be yours when one accepts the Lord in ones life. You want to be a better nurse? Trust in the Lord!
it's easy for you to say. I guess you are not a minority. Picture yourself dealing with Christians disrupting my day with family with preaching. You will understand why I express such strong resentment.
Perhaps you're letting them disrupt your day because you're offended by what they're doing. It's a free country and they can pray all they want. I've been offended by the content of others' conversations, but unless they're being abusive or unnaturally loud I can't do a thing about it.
Of course, if they're sacrificing chickens or drinking each other's blood, I can see how that would get under your skin.

You're right, it's a free country. Therefore I have the right to disagree with people I can go on this board and say I don't agree. Any of us can. Sorry you seem to have a problem with it. I am officially done.

I am a naturalized citizen. I know about the first amendment. I'm talking about people's etiquette. Coming to my safe haven and asking me to repent and accept a deity I absolutely don't have any emotional connection with is rude and condescending.
People with privilege like you just don't get it.
P.S.: I read the Bible. I know what that book is about.
I want to say at the end of the day, the only thing that matters for a patient is that his or her nurse is compassionate, kind and caring regardless of your beliefs or nonbeliefs. I work with people from all walks of life. As long as you respect me,I respect you. I am not a nurse yet but I will Always treat my patients and colleagues -ALL of them with respect and kindness. I would expect the same from them.

I'm glad you're happy with the goddess. But within the confines of this thread, exactly what offended you about OP's statement? Or mine? Seriously, I'm curious, because what I think I'm seeing here is a lot of projection. I understand that Christians might have offended or hated on you in the past--Christians are people, after all, so some are going to be pompous or obnoxious or rude. But that doesn't mean you need to project your past anger at others onto posters simply stating beliefs. Because in all honesty I don't see her preaching or condemning; she's just making a statement about her spirituality in a Nursing and Spirituality forum.
Maybe you could explain how some of your beliefs inform your nursing practice. That would be really helpful, since there are a lot of misconceptions about pagan religions.
Peace.
