My cousin had lidocaine spray which she uses for before waxing "down there". I asked a friend about this and she said it was "totally safe". I'm not convinced...

Well, it depends on how much lidocaine is in it and whether or not it is prescription. You can get lidocaine gel over the counter. It's 0.8% lidocaine. I use it for sunburn all the time and it helps. Blue aloe or something. I imagine they make something similar in a spray.

This is something to ask your pharmacist, PCP or OB/GYN to determine if this is a safe and appropriate use prior to bikini waxing "down there". Most topical lidocaine preparations are prescription only.
Oh, I didn't even think about it being in the groin area. I was just thinking over all. I don't know if I would use anything near there considering some formulas of nair aren't even supposed to be used down there.
Here's the gel that is similar to what I have at home. This one is 1% lidocaine versus the 0.8% I bought from Wally World.

This stuff has been over the counter for years. I had it when I was a kid and I remember having to go pick some up in 2006 because I had a really bad sunburn. I don't know if I would personally use it for waxing but for sunburns it is great. I tried telling a friend about it because she decided she didn't want to use sunscreen at all when we went to the beach.
Remember the skin in the perineal/bikini area can be very sensitive. Plus allergic or sensitivity reactions to lidocaine are not uncommon....not exactly skin where I would like to have a reaction. Best to check with a physician or pharmacist if the preparation is safe for that intended use.

real "Lidocaine spray" or "Hurricane spray" is by prescription only. I have heard of many...Ahem...off label uses for this but for a bikini wax I must say is a new one.
We cannot give medical advice... however...I would caution anyone numbing something that delicate when hot fluids are used for severe burns can occur when the person getting the wax job can't react to the heat and if they are actually being burned. A blistered and burned HooHaa isn't comfortable and a high price to pay for personal preference.
This would be filed in the ED under...not the brightest bulb in the room.

Gonna burst your bubble. Hurricane spray does not need a prescription. I used it with both my children during teething, braces and other dental work. Also used it with both my grandbabies during teething. I just asked the pharmacist and they got it for me. I have also ordered it off line.

I got it otc in Australia in the form of "Paxyl" spray when my son had a balantis and we had to retract his foreskin to apply the a/b cream. The pharmacist knew exactly what it was being used for as well. There's a few versions that are otc in Australia.
