I know I saw a forum on here already about this, but I am a licensed RN and HOPING to start employment Oct 19th at my new job, however i was wondering how long the endorsement / fingerprinting process takes; I sent my endorsement packet and information in on Tuesday 9/27; any feedback on how long it takes? Thankyou everyone.

Hi...have you requested the NY license verifications to be sent to NJBON?
You will also be receiving a letter from NJBON for fingerprint instructions. The fingerprint scheduling is usually full. My next available schedule was 3 weeks from the day I registered. But I guess it depends on the location? So overall, mine took a month.

About 4-6 weeks for endorsement. The fingerprinting/background check seemed to take the longest whether for initial license or endorsement because the Sagem Morpho is the contractor for the state and seems to always be backed up for 2-3 weeks. However, you can check your application status online (once your name has been entered into the system, if you call the BoN they will tell you if you are in the system yet. Sometimes it takes 2 weeks, but sometimes it takes for your application to be entered into the database).
Go here: http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/renew/
Click on "check status of application " (#4) then follow the instructions to set up a user name and password. You'll have access to the checklist of license requirements and where your application is in the process. Good luck.
Yes i sent in all my paperwork. Is there any way to schedule the fingerprints to get done on your own or you have to wait for them to send you the request in the mail?
You must receive the paperwork from the board of nursing. the information on the form is required to schedule the appointment (it is unique to each applicant), plus the form is necessary to be fingerprinted.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but where do i get all the paperwork that i need? Also, do i just fill it out and mail it in with a check? Am I responsible for contacting NY state at all?
Any other tips you can share are greatly appreciated!
Thank you all so much!
Hi nycnurse,
To apply for endorsement here is the link to the application http://www.nj.gov/lps/ca/nursing/endor_app.pdf
Fill out the application, get it notarized, then you can send it in with a $200.00 check (instructions are all on the beginning of the application checklist).
Also you need to go to nursys.com and follow the instructions to send over the verification from NY to NJ electronically as soon as possible. Those are all the steps for endorsement. You do not need to contact the NY state.
Tips are to get it in ASAP if you have a job waiting, because I am freaking out thinking I'm gona loose this job because everyone says it takes a while. I wish you luck :)
Oh! and they also send you the fingerprinting process I believe 4-6 weeks after you send in your application. I have not received that yet so cannot offer you details but I am aware the instructions come in the mail with the request to get them done.

Thank you so much for your detailed response! It is GREATLY appreciated!! Also, does NURSYS.COM charge a fee?
GL with your new job, by the way! Where will you be working?
THANK YOU AGAIN!
Your very welcome! Nursys charges a $30.00 fee.
Thankyou! I will be working at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, great facility and wonderful hospital! I am praying that they leave the position open for me because who knows how long this is going to take, I sent it in about 2 weeks ago. Just keeping my fingers crossed!
I'm sure you will be fine and that Kessler will hold the job for you! GL!
Are they still doing that 'personality test' as part of the exam? I forget what its called. My friend got an offer from them but ended up declining. But she *still* talks about that test! Again, GL!
Thanks, I am crossing my fingers and praying everyday they hold it! and YES the Gallup test! It wasn't so bad haha. I am surprised your friend turned down the position! I wish you luck with endorsing your license, do it ASAP! =) .
