Hello
so I'm starting the process of applying for my Colorado license, I already have an active ny one. But as I'm applying I noticed on my diploma and license my middle name is spelt "Lynn" but on my birth certificate and passport it's spelt "Lynne" should I be concerned about this discrepancy? Will it effect my application for my Colorado license?

I would take the necessary steps to get this corrected if I were you. A notarized copy of your birth certificate should be all that is needed along with the request, unless they also want a fee.

If you're going to be communicating about this discrepancy in writing, you should use the more common past tense of spell: spelled.
Spelt is technically not incorrect, but in common usage it is seen as a mistake by most people (in the U.S.).
I'm just a grammar geek, so wanted to help out -- not trying to shame you on your spelling.
This is probably the best time to correct this error actually. I would fill out the new application with the correct spelling and only mention the discrepancy if they bring it up... And then thank them for alerting you to the mistake NY made 😉

Call the BoN of whatever state you are licensed in and tell them to fix it. I have never known anyone to have their middle name on their license though.

"Spelt" might indicate that the writer was educated more in the British system, where this form is still acceptable.
Otherwise, you're completely correct.

Yes, although jarring in the U.S., spelt is the past tense of spell and not only the grain in the UK. But here, most would see this use as "wrong", don't you think?
