license by endorsement

U.S.A. California

Hi All!

Hope everyone had a good holiday season! I have a question for people who are in the process of getting their license endorsed or know somebody who is trying to get their license endorsed in California. I applied for my license around the 2nd week of November and everything has been sent in and received. Ive been caliing the CA BON for the last 2 weeks and got through ONCE and was told there weren't any notes in my file and my hard copy of fingerprints had been cleared. So does anyone about how much longer it will be? I'm getting antsy over here! haha

Also, i currently have a NJ RN license and have fixed up my resume and cover letter. So should i just wait for my CA license number and then apply to jobs or do you think I can apply now while my license is still in progress?

Sorry so long! thanks for any help!

I applied for my endorsement license on Oct 8th. I kmow they didn't even open my file until the 31st of October. They told me my finger prints are still being cleared/holding up my license. I'm shocked yours habe been cleared already! I would try calling again. Did you apply for a temporary license? That may be able to allow you to work without your permanent cleared. Good luck

No, I didn't apply for a temp, I didn't think I would need it. I checked Breeze and it said the submission date was 11/26 and the status is open. How much longer did you end up waiting? I keep calling but its either a busy tone or after finally getting through it says that they can't take my call. It doesn't matter what time of day I call....ALWAYS busy hahah. Thanks for sharing.

BRN will never pick up the phone unless you know their secret number they don't give out. They respond pretty quickly to me by email when I had issues renewing my license. I'd still apply now if you're from out of state anyways.

I have had luck right at 8 am california time. When I get through I literally dial over and over and over. It's a commitment! How do you check your status on breeze? I tried to figure it out and couldn't. I am still waiting on mine... Three months and counting. Just talked to my evaluator a week ago.

you think i should still apply for job positions now? or did you mean my license. Yeah I think i'll try emailing someone tonight.

yeah the ONE time I got through it was at like 8:30 right after Christmas...figures.

For Breeze you just click on the link and then theres a thing to sign up towards the bottom. You put all your info in and then under the applications section you select by endorsement and it will show your status.

How'd you figure out your evaluator?...and actually speak with them?! I thought the whole process was only supposed to take like 2 months...I wonder how much longer we'll be waiting. Have you been applying for jobs?

Thanks for the directions; I was able to set that up. Mine just said "pending/open" too. The people who answer the phone know the evaluators. Ask them to talk to yours. It's based on your last name. The evaluator was able to tell me exactly everything that I sent in/that all of my college transcripts were cleared and I just needed my fingerprint card cleared. I also wonder how long it will take. My husband is in the military and we aren't moving until July so I haven't started applying. People thought I jumped the gun applying for my application so early but I'm happy I didn't wait! If worse comes to worse I will do the livescan when we move there, but I hope that the fingerprints don't take that long !!!

I am confused-did you send the application in with fingerprint cards then you wont need to do the livescan. I do know the livescan is faster than fingerprint cards but with the CA BON you never know. A fellow nurse flew out to CA and had the livescan done. Her friend sent in the fingerprint cards and got her license 4 days later than my friend. If you have time on your side and dont need your license right away I would do the permanent license otherwise I would go with the temp.

I sent in fingerprint cards in October (as well as the rest of my application). Everything but the prints has been cleared. My husband is military so we have a few months before we move and I am happy I did this early. Basically if my fingerprints got denied (hard to read, etc) I would probably have better luck with livescan (knowing if they're approved or need re scanned right away) and sending it in than doing the whole hard copy fingerprint hoopla again. Hopefully my prints just get cleared soon and I don't have to do anything else :) this process is definitely helping me exercise patience :~)

Now I understand. Thanks for clarifying this. Hopefully, you wont have to spend anymore money. I have 3 licenses which one is compact and I would ilke to get 2 more CA and NY. Between the application, fingerprinting and background checks and educational requirements the process can become very expensive.

I got my license!!! 3 months and 6 days later. Happy day!
