license by endorsement

Hi All!

Hope everyone had a good holiday season! I have a question for people who are in the process of getting their license endorsed or know somebody who is trying to get their license endorsed in California. I applied for my license around the 2nd week of November and everything has been sent in and received. Ive been caliing the CA BON for the last 2 weeks and got through ONCE and was told there weren't any notes in my file and my hard copy of fingerprints had been cleared. So does anyone about how much longer it will be? I'm getting antsy over here! haha

Also, i currently have a NJ RN license and have fixed up my resume and cover letter. So should i just wait for my CA license number and then apply to jobs or do you think I can apply now while my license is still in progress?

Sorry so long! thanks for any help!

Congrats. I'm glad you weren't in a rush to get it.

Congrats! This is giving me hope that maybe mine will be in by February and I can get started applying!

Thank you and good luck!!!

I was wondering-did you apply for a temp as well as a perm CA license. 3 months is such a long time. My original license is from PA-did they take a long time to send out their paperwork to CA. I am thinking of applying for a temp first and once I get that I have six months to apply for a perm.

I addressed this to another poster who just got her license after 3 months but I should also ask you too-did you apply for temp or perm or both. I am trying to figure if it would be a shorter time period if I applied for temp first then perm later. I am also thinking I may have travel to CA to get the live scan. I am a travel nurse and need the license as soon as possible.

I didn't apply for a temporary license. In order to get one (I learned this from the BON) your fingerprints need to be cleared. That's what took my license so long. It seems like a temp works more if you need to complete some classes or are waiting for transcripts. It wouldn't have worked for me. My original license was able to be verified on nursys so I didn't have to wait on my state to send it in too. Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck

I am a travel nurse so being able to get a license as soon as possible is very important in this industry. Thats where a temp license comes in and that can determine whether you get an assignment or not. Up until 2 yrs ago if you have a complete application, documentation of a clear license and livescan prints-you can submit in AM and pick up a temp license in the afternoon thats good for 6 months.(Apparently you can drop off documents but cannot pick up license anymore) Close to 6 months exp date the BON will notify you if you so desire to apply for perm license. Hopefully if you want a perm license you would have sent in your transcripts and state documents. -You can get a temp in a shorter time if you do livescan and have proof of license but your wait time can be anywhere from 2 wks-8 wks.

Yes the hard part is getting fingerprints done in a timely fashion for those out of state. I sent in the hard copy cards which takes much longer. Unfortunately I don't think there's a "fast" way to get a license in CA.

Hi

I know this is an old post but still hope to hear your feedback.

How did you create a Breeze account for endorsement? Did you have to fill an application as if you're going to take the exam? I have been searching online and many people said that you need to create an Breeze account, but when I login, the application choice is only for new applicant/exam application so I chose that one.

This question stopped me from continuing the application process:

"Have you ever been licensed by examination as an RN in another U.S. State/Territory?" I answered YES, because I have current WA state license, then the computer said I wasn't allowed to apply online...

I'm confused...

Thank you for your help.

Planning to get my NV license endorsed in CA in February of 2015... how long can I expect to wait to be able to work in CA? I heard rumors of 7-9 months!? Does that seem accurate?

About 60 to 90 days is for BRN endorsement. The website though will tell you that BRN processing takes about 6-8 weeks, but this varies!

Type "timeline for endorsing CA license" in the search box. Many nurses talked about their timeline in that message thread. Some have taken 4 months but not sure about 7 to 9 months. That seems unrealistic! I would apply for temporary license though just to be on the safe side.

Thank you. And you that 60-90 days was recently in this year? I know the board is so out of whack! Also, they no longer distribute temp. licenses :(.
