I am a recent new grad and licensed in Nevada as an RN. I was fortunate in that I have a misdemeanor DUI from about 2 years ago, prior to becoming an RN, and was able to obtain licensure without probationary status. My question is what should I expect if I apply for license by endorsement to another state such as California or Oregon? Is it possible I could receive a license yet be under probationary status? I am only looking to obtain licenses in these states to have options open if an opportunity becomes available. Would it possibly be better to wait so that more time has elapsed by to applying? Any assistance is appreciated.

I have a probation license in Oregon due to DUI history and I can tell you from my experience that Oregon is very strict about these things. I don't know how the full license from Nevada would influence that but since you're required to disclose everything when you apply, I am pretty sure they will put you on probation for at least some amount of time. And I've heard that CA is even more strict but have no personal experience with that...do you have some job prospects already set up in OR? Maybe if you have a job already in place it wouldn't be such a hassle.
Good luck!

Hi acp0041, I was hoping you could tell me of some probation friendly employers in Oregon and advice for getting a job while on probation. Thanks

It seems like the accusations vary in the actual dui case....was it aggregated? Car accident speeding etc .
