does anyone have done endorsing CA license to another state? i need information on what to fill out on the LICENSE NUMBER of the VERIFICATION OF LICENSE FORM which is to be sent to the CA-BON.

i passed the NCLEX-RN in CA last year but i can't register for my permanent license since i don't have a Social Security Number. so, is it possible to endorse an NCLEX-RN EXAM only?

hope somebody can share an idea or experience.

Generally to endorse a license you need a license and CA will not issue a license without a SSN therefore you have no license to endorse. I would suggest you contact the state board of nursing however usually you complete license by exam and then arrange for NCLEX results to be forwarded

tnx Silverdragon102 for your advice... I did call the Board of Nursing which i intend to apply.

To all who passed the NCLEX-RN examination in California and intended to obtain a license from another state that doesn't require SSN for the issuance of license, you still are going to apply for Licensure by Examination but you don't need to take the exam. You just need to ask the CA-BRN to forward your NCLEX result to state board of nursing. That's it.

To nezzyRN, may i know what state your applying? We are on the same boat. I intend to apply in state of Illinois.

yes, i called the ASBN. try to download their application form - LICENSE BY EXAMINATION, all the guidelines, qualification and requirements for examination are there. see it by yourself so you don't get confused. also, you need to request for an FBI fingerprint card from ASBN and they will mail it to your address.

the forms consist of: 1. application 2. background check -- these two have to be notarized 3. degree verification -- submit this to your school together with the photocopy of your diploma, tor, rle 4. license verification - submit this to PRC together with your card photocopy.

i hope this helps you.

How do we ask CA-BRN to endorse NCLEX result to Arkansas? And is it possible to extend the NCLEX result for a year or so? Mine will expire on October.

You have no license to endorse. Please take the time to read the forum as CA and safeguarding NCLEX results has been discussed numerous times

hi..are there any other states aside from vermont which issue license even without ssn...thanks

I would say the issuing of a license isn't as important as safe guarding your NCLEX results. there are several states that now require proof of legal residency before they issue a license. If you are really wanting a license issuing then you are going to have to check out each state and see what they do. You can find a links to the BONs at the bottom of the page

I emailed ****** asking if I have to retake the NCLEX-RN exam in case my file has been destroyed/abandoned before I'd been able to apply/transfer the results to another state.

Here's her reply:

In response to your email, the following information is provided:

As of April 26, 2010, the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) no longer accepts applications that do not contain a valid U.S. Social Security Number (SSN). The California Nursing Practice Act provides for a unified examination and licensing application. Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. Under these circumstances, the BRN cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure, without a valid U.S. Social Security Number.

Prior to April 26, 2010, once an applicant passed the NCLEX-RN examination, the applicant was allowed a three-year time period to submit a valid SSN. After that time period had elapsed, the file was considered abandoned and the file was destroyed. Additionally, an applicant was also allowed to request an extension on the file Abandonment Date. This was done as a courtesy to the applicant. As of April 26, 2010, the BRN will no longer grant an extension on the file abandonment date.

An applicant, who has passed the NCLEX-RN exam and is affected by file abandonment and file destruction, still has the following options:

- Once the valid U.S. Social Security Number is obtained, the applicant may re-apply to the BRN. Currently, the applicant will not have to retest, because even though the file is abandoned and destroyed, the NCLEX-RN test result is still valid. Once the Board receives all the requirements (APPLICATION FOR LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION; transcript from school; the fingerprint clearance and a valid U.S. SSN) we needed; the CA RN license will be issued.

- An applicant may request that the California NCLEX-RN test result (NCLEX-RN CANDIDATE REPORT with your picture) be provided to any U.S. jurisdiction; if the applicant wishes to apply to a jurisdiction that does not require the SSN for licensure (There is a $10 fee that must be included with a test result NCLEX-RN CANDIDATE REPORT request). Also, the BRN will certify the applicant’s California NCLEX-RN test results (there is a $60 fee that must be included with the verification request). The applicant must contact other U.S. jurisdictions to inquire as to each jurisdiction’s licensure requirements. For a list of U.S. jurisdictions, please visit the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) official Web site at: NCSBN and access the contact information under Boards of Nursing.

- To assist an applicant who is requesting a VisaScreen® certificate from the International Commission on Healthcare Professions (ICHP), the BRN will certify the applicant’s California NCLEX-RN test results (there is a $60 fee that must be included with the certification request). Information related to the VisaScreen® certificate requirements may be found on the International Commission on Healthcare Professions official Web site at: CGFNS International

We hope this information has been of assistance to you. If you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Board.

Sincerely,

*****
