License Accusation

So finally after almost 5 years, the BVNPT has decided to make a formal accusation against my license. I have retained a lawyer and hoping for a quick resolution but we know how that goes. My question Is, do I inform my job (different than the one the accusation is from) that this has happened or wait until the outcome? It’s public record now and anyone searching my license can see the whole court documents. I feel the right thing is to tell them and take my chances but I’m getting advice from others not to say a word. I did reach out to my lawyer and hoping to hear back tomorrow with her thoughts, I’d also like to hear my fellow nurses advice on this. Thank you in advance

As you have retained counsel, you should refer all questions to her, and follow her advice.  And, in my opinion, you should not discuss this with anyone other than your counsel.

Best wishes.

Thank you chare. This has been a long journey and one I am still in shock about. I appreciate your response and hope for a happy and healthy year for you and yours and all of us

Ditto. And avoid social media.

A tempting as it may become, avoid discussing this with any coworkers. Even though you think well of them. Silence may be golden but people do talk.

Same for family.

Thank you got your response! I will not be saying anything to anyone except my attorney. I appreciate the advice and please pray for a good outcome ☺️

Just an update on this process, as it has drained me and left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I hired an expert witness who specializes in documentation. Come to find out, the treatment im being accused of signing and not doing, I never signed. I signed it was on hold and not done. We only found this out after they had to give the discovery to my attorney and my expert witness looked it over. We presented it to the board to show there was no dishonestly or unprofessional conduct, But the BOARD is now taking any kind of settlement off the table and insisting we go to hearing in May. To say I’m frustrated would be putting it mildly. Coming into nursing I was beyond the moon and so hopeful for my future and a career that I could be proud of. Now I’m so disheartened and fighting with myself to hang on, keep fighting and keep doing what I love. I’m drained and just do not understand how they can want to keep going with the truth in black and white. Thank you for reading and please send good juju my way for this hearing. Hugs to all

This is bureaucracy for you.  Open-and-shut needs to be dragged out.  So nerve-wracking.  As draining as it is, I'm glad you're putting up the good fight for your livelihood and reputation.  Many people just fold and it makes me so sad.

I'll be certainly sending good vibes your way.  You will come out of this much stronger and more confident and you'll be surprised at how much harder it'll be to rattle you in the future.  Hang in there.

Thank you Tricia, I needed to hear that. I keep telling myself to not give in but I have to say this is one of the hardest fights I’ve ever been in. To read what they wrote about me just stabs me right in the heart. Even when you know better, to read it cuts deep. Thank you for your reply and good vibes, it helps to hear from others who can relate. Much love to you and hugs

Wanted to post an update before tomorrows hearing. The board offered a settlement about a week ago for 3 years probation, I declined and said we can go to hearing. Last night the Boards attorney contacts my attorney and is now offering a public reprimand plus me to pay their costs of the investigation. I am being told and I feel like they know there is no case, its in black and white that I DID NOT do what they claimed. to accept this offer I would be admitting to what they are accusing me of and I decided I cannot live with that and declined that offer too. So tomorrow we start the hearing (its 2 days) I will post an update as soon as a decision is made, please send good vibes for a good outcome@
