I'm a libertarian nurse. Ask me anything.
I think if you want to have a meaningful conversation about how your views relate to nursing you'll have to go beyond just listing buzzwords. It should also be pointed out that the term "Libertarian" has become somewhat meaningless. Traditional Liberterianism means you don't believe we should have a military, there should be no border security, there is no social responsibility to provide for the common good (ER's should be able to requirement payment prior to providing life saving treatment, for instance) is that what you really believe?
I never said we shouldn't pay taxes, or that everything should be privatized. There are libertarians that believe that. I'm not one of them. I do think that the things government is involved in should be limited. Defense, environmental regulation, and Infrastructure for instance. Within reason. Unless you are raving neocon you have to admit that the Military Industrial Complex could use some reigning in.
None of those things fall under traditional of definition of libertarianism. The fact that your definition is so off base does not mean the word is meaningless, it just means you are ignorant about the facts. In general, as a libertarian, I am against coercion, and for property rights and free markets. As a nurse, I believe the more centralized the control of the health system becomes the more sluggish and unresponsive it becomes in relation to the needs of our patients. Over my career I have witnessed this effect.

That is actually what Libertarian means, I think you're referring to the Tea Party, which often mislabels themselves as Libertarian.
On borders for instance, from the Libertarian Party Platform:
"Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders".
What you seem to be describing are things that we all agree on when stated in generalities, it's the specifics that get more complicated and where the Tea Party positions sort of fall apart.
One of the key concepts of libertarianism is the Non Aggression Principle. This is the idea that no individual should be forced, coerced, conned or stolen from by anybody, including government.
You call yourself a libertarian and say this is what you believe in, but you're okay with paying taxes? How??
