Level of questions of the NCLEX-RN

Hi guys!

I am curious to know whether the level of questions of the actual NCLEX-RN was harder/easier than you expected?

Is it any harder and more sofisticated than the questions you've practiced during your preparation?

I personally thought they were harder than the study questions I did.. but I guess it really depends on what materials/classes you used.

Like how harder?Asked something you didnt know at all or just kinda complicated?

By the way, is "Saunder's Comprehensive review for the NCLEX-RN examination" written by Linda Anne Silvestri any good?

Saunders is the best book out there and the only one that I recommend as well as use. :)

My NCLEX-RN is on 27th and i am soooooooooooooooo nervous and starting to freak out. :rotfl:

By the way, Is there any chance that some questions from the review books will be in the test itself?

The test didn't really ask me anything that I had no clue about, I think it's just the way things are worded and the pressure of it being THE test, it makes everything seem harder! I used Saunders and thought it was excellent. and yes, I actually had two or three of my review questions on the NCLEX! I was so excited :chuckle

After using the Saunders CD, I cannot really say that things were terribly hard, like Amanda said, a lot of it was just being there taking the test itself. I started out using the Kaplan Question trainer CD, & while it's good for practice, I think I preferred Saunders. Kaplan focused mainly on getting you to use their strategies & did not consistently explain why each answer choice was right or wrong. With a particular question, they would go through the answers something like this:

(1) Implementation; not necessary

(2) Not necessary at this time

(3) Not necessary at this time

(4) Correct; this is an assessment, the nurse needs

to assess first.

As for the strategies, I guess they're good to know, but I wasn't able to use them on my test. Good luck.

"Hard" isn't the right word to describe upper level NCLEX questions. They are judgement questions where more than one answer may be right, and one must choose the best. "Hard" to me means that there is a right answer that is just beyond reach. There really wasn't anything I could come home and look up to see if I got the right answer.

The impression I got with NCLEX is that it assumed nursing content, but was really a test of how you think.

I took mine today and I thought they were harder than any of the review books. I hope that is a good thing.
