I am a high school student who is very hopeful about a future in nursing. After joining this website I've received tons of great advice and points of view on my own threads, as well as reading posts from other people. However, I've recently seen a lot of negative posts about nursing. It is okay to vent and be frustrated with your job... but it's seeming more like people are miserable in their career path.
SO, now, here I am, looking for a little bit of inspiration. Who LOVES nursing? What makes your job so rewarding? Please share stories. I would love to see some optimism!
:)
I've thought and thought. Written and deleted.....several times.
The one constant, everyday, is the wonderful people I endure the hard 12 hrs with. My fellow nurses. Who have my back. Who come running when I yell for help. Who laugh at me when I'm stupid:), and force me to laugh too.
The one constant in most of my posts is the admiration I feel for nurses.
And I get to be one of them. YAY!!

This is quite possibly the best post I have read in such a long time! Great MESSAGE to hear and to share with everybody!!
No matter what type of work you get into there are days you want to quit! Trust me I've been working for 25 years and not all of it is nursing. I've only been a nurse about 9 months. However, with nursing it is so rewarding that you are actually saving lives, making a difference, and seeing people at their most vulnerable. I love my job, but at first I hated it, everything about it. Now, I take it with a grain of salt and realize each day is a learning experience to better improve my skill set and critical thinking skills. You get out of it what you put into it EVERYDAY! This is your life only you know what you'll like and dislike. You can't look to others to see how much they dread something and automatically decide that because they hate their job then you shouldn't be a nurse. You need to get into nursing for your own reasons and know that you MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! Good luck in your endeavors, you have so much to look forward to, remember put a smile on your face, put your best foot forward and YOU THINK POSITIVELY!!!!
I couldn't have said it better myself! :)

or, . . .Sometimes when I have a really bad problem, I like to think about people who have many more, and much more complex problems (like my inlaws), and then I feel better about "my problem."
Eternal Optimist!, This post made me think about "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy!"
