Hey, I did speak with the advisor and personally I don’t really think the budget cuts thing is going on... She didn’t mention that at all she simply looked at my statistics and said you will hear from them shortly. Also, there are about 120 open seats if you look at enrollment for the first semester’s fall nursing courses. I’m not sure how accelerates works but I’m pretty sure budget cuts would make it difficult to fill those seats if they reject everyone. Best of luck to everyone!

This is helpful thanks !

I haven’t gotten anything either. But there’s a zoom meeting this Saturday with the advisors from 10-2 if you want to ask them any questions.

I’ll wait and see thanks. Best luck to you!

Juneteenth is now a CUNY holiday so if we don’t hear today we may not tomorrow either. Has anyone heard of decisions on a weekend? I don’t really expect an answer although if you have one I’m all ears. I’m just venting frustration but the day is not over so hopefully someone gets an email today!

You can look in the past threads to see if anyone got theirs on the weekend. It’s most unlikely that they did. Yeah I understand your frustration, I am a bit as well. I’m pretty sure though that they’ll send them next week because they’ve had plenty of time now.

Lehman Nursing department lied once again! Juneteenth is a Holiday so we will not hear anything "soon". I really hope karma get to them and the old staff they have.

Welp 4 days down. I guess we’ll wait until Monday. I know they’re super busy. Has anyone spoken to any of the advisors ?

Wishing negative karma on the Nursing department isn't exactly the best way to keep your own karma clean. They are not OBLIGATED to tell us anything in any timeline. They said 'soon', but how's that's defined isn't up to us.

Everyone is anxious, but it doesn't speak well that when things aren't perfect and ideal that one would extend anger and hopes of hardship on the very people one expects to learn from.

Please try to be positive and uplifting. Most of us are going into this profession to help and care for others and we just learn that expectations are seldom met, especially with a less than ideal attitude.

I hope that you hear back soon and I would encourage you to take a deep breath and employ meditative practice. Manifest good things, don't wish bad ones.

Regards

I completely agree Jonah. Putting negativity out into the universe and wishing bad faith on people regarding things they cannot control isn’t the way to go. We are all experiencing trying times and nobody knows what’s really going to happen in the future and nobody knows how to best proceed with the situation at hand. It’s best to just remain hopeful and relaxed. Occupy yourself with something that calms the mind and distracts you from the anxiety of waiting and remain hopeful that things will resolve in your favor. We didn’t hear anything this week but Monday is a brand new week and hopefully we will hear something. Take care of your mental health.

@Chickenwings and @jonah barnett

Thank you for your kinds words but insinuating that I have something with my mental health and assuming that I am not occupied with something calming to distract me from my anxiety is a false and flawed premise that maybe should not be tossed out in the universe. I take mental health very serious and using it as a clap back for a department who clearly doesn't care enough to notify you about your future is very interesting.

I made my statements and stand by it because the nursing department is responsible for their clients, which is us, the students. When I go to work each day responsible for the staff and patients, I can not push things back and use general words such as "soon" because there's a pandemic. We all know things will change but best practice is to be transparent and say something to us. It is their duty to notify us and make a statement. We haven't heard anything from them. I can't speak for anyone else but I spent time and money invested into Lehman for the department to not acknowledge us at all during this time. All other schools and even other departments within Lehman are sympathetic to the students. Why is it wrong to expect something from a place that offers a service. They are not the only victims in this pandemic. So yes, I do hope they invest time and money into something to see how it feels for someone not to care. I spent two years to get into their program. I could've taken another course instead of organic chem to get into another school instead of waiting around for a decision and only hearing rumors. According to previous post they know about the rumors and still did not post or send out any type of communication. I go by the Golden Rule, treat people how you want to be treated. Waiting does not suffice when we do not have a deadline. It went from the beginning of June to June 15th to June 30th and now another rumor of July 15th. I'm frustrated and have a right to be.

@CuriousStudent I agree with you 100%. I have also invested money and time in Lehman and I find it rather rude That they haven’t said anything. I was the one who spoke with the chairperson on zoom when she made the statement about reduced seats, budget cuts, and “not knowing”. Her tone was pretty nasty to me. She seemed bothered with my question and rushed me off the call with no regard to the bomb she dropped on me. I feel for you as well as myself and others who have invested so much. I do feel like you shouldn’t put bad energy out there because I am a firm believer in wishing bad things will only get reversed. I don’t know what your spirituality is like but that is mine. You have the right to be frustrated and vent like the rest of us, I don’t see anything wrong with that.

As for myself I have started looking into other options for myself such as a new school or even a new degree altogether. I’m sorry I know that may not help you after you have invested so much, I just say it to say I don’t think it’s worth waiting for their word. They do not care. And they are not the only ones affected so there’s no excuse. I wish you well whether it be within or outside of Lehman and their program. Sending good vibes your way

Hello everyone, I understate all of us are under pressure to really know the way forward with Lehman college but I want to encourage everyone of us to remain positive.

Also, I suggest applying to schools still accepting applications for the Fall 2020 semester. I know it may be above people's budget, but to be honest the behavior from Lehman Nursing department is why most people just preffer to spend more money in other schools.

After applying to Lehman college, I really asked myself if applying to just one school was wise so during the beginning of the pandemic I applied to college of mount saint vincent. I have received my admission decision already and I noticed that since I decided to not wait for Lehman and just pay the acceptance fee at CMVS I haven't been anxious and angry with the Lehman Nursing Department.

This platform is to inform, express and help. Everyone is entitled to say and express how they feel since it is within their first amendment rights. I agree there shouldn’t be any bad vibes as that only adds to the fuel of others anxiety, but no one is in a position to correct someone else’s thinking just because they don’t agree. We don’t want anyone who’s reading this to feel as though they can’t speak their mind. I am stressed out along with others and if coming here and expressing that helps them, then we should welcome not shun it away.
