Hello everyone, I was taught how to interpret ABGs using the ROME acronym, but could not for the life of me understand the concept; therefore, I went ahead and found an alternative using the ABG tic tac toe method. I completely understand now, but I was just wondering.. is this an effective way of interpreting abgs? I mean, is there any way that this could go wrong or be interpreted wrong and is there a preference over the ROME method and the tic tac toe method? thanks in advance !

Looks good. I don't use that method, but if it's what works for you, then go for it.

I have always used tic tac toe. Worked for nursing school, ER and an acute care nurse practitioner program and job.

That's the method that made me understand it and it has always worked for me on exams.

Good day, stargirl018
You can test your understanding at ABG Interpretation Quiz
If you need help, I recommend the following resources:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jr3rqiU_8Y - Mike Linares does a great job at breaking down the complex into easier to understand blocks.

I prefer tic-tac-toe. Also for practice, this site is very helpful: ABG Interpretation Quiz
