U.S.A. Alabama

I just wanted to start a post for the LSCC hopefulls! Please post if you know what the point cutoff is for the fall or if you have received your letter, or etc. Let's get this thing rolling & good luck to everyone!!!

I have recently applied to Lawson State and I am wanting to get into their nursing program. I start school in January. I know that I have to apply for the nursing school seperately but I am totally clueless about everything. I have read many posts talking about points? What points and how do you get them. I went to UAB around 5 years ago for another major, but had to leave school due to family issues. I am now ready to go back and nothing is the same. Can someone please give me some insight on what I need to do and what to expect? I can never get anyone on the phone at Lawson to ask what all I need to be doing and their website is no help. Should I go ahead and be taking all the math, english, biology and other courses like that my first semester or two there?

@ lilmomma8147 . go to lawsons website. click on health professions and then admission criteria you will see all the info u need to get started also if u click on nursing application u can see the curriculum for the nursing program.

hi everyone I just started lawson this fall and are doing my pre classes right now. I have taken math 100, reading 114, music (fine arts) ENG 101,. I have not taken any bio yet. I know i have to take bio 103 in the spring. What i want to know is, should i take math 116 or 112 and can i take bio 201 and 202 at the same time this summer? help please

Unless you've taken Bio201 and Bio202 before and you are having to retake because it's been more than 5 years since you took A&P, then you have to take BIO201 before you can take Bio202. Just as a sidenote, summer semester is shorter than Fall and Spring, so you have to get the same amount of information in a shorter amount of time. Bio201 isn't bad. Bio202 is very detailed with alot of terminology to learn. Attempting to take both courses during a summer semester would be extremely tough.

Has anyone who applied for Spring 2010 heard anything yet?

Hi,

I called and I was told that letters would be going out this week. A classmate from my math class said she was told that letters would be sent out on Wednesday. I am very anxious to find out if I made it in or not. I'm trying to stay positive.

Thanks for the info. I had heard that they wanted letters out before the end of the semester. But with finals being next week, I was beginning to worry.

Oh well, I'll try to remain positive and wait. Good Luck to you!

Hi pixiegalsmom,

I also read in several threads that if your advisor's name has changed to someone in the Health Professions this means that you are pretty much in the program. I guess I am so nervous because last year I applied for the evening LPN program I did not receive any letter. I didn't research it or anything until after classes started and I was informed then that there wasn't enough students interested in it so they cancelled it. The lady apologized and told me that I wasn't the only one who didn't receive a letter when we were suppose to get one giving us an option to select Day Program. So as you see I've been on pins and needle. If I'm in, fine. If I'm not, fine too. I know God doesn't make any mistakes!

Wow, that doesn't speak very well of the program's "checks and balances" to insure that all that apply are given an answer one way or the other, does it? I'm sorry to hear that their error cost you in delaying the process. You're a very forgiving soul to try again with Lawson after that! I also read that sometimes the advisor update online happens before the letter arrives in the mail. But I know now to check with them, if I don't get something by next week. What program are you applying for this time? Hope things turn out much better this time!

Hi,

Lawson is notorius for being unorganized. But I am determined to get accepted be it Spring or Fall. I applied for the LPN program. What about you? Which program did you apply to?

LPN as well. I debated about going RN at first, but I've got young kids still at home and I know that nursing school will require lots of studying and organization, so I decided to take things in "baby steps" and see if after completing the LPN program and getting out in the workforce if I wanted to go the next step to RN with the mobility program. I guess today is the day letters are scheduled to go out so let's cross our fingers and hope that we'll know something within the next day or so. Good Luck and let me know when you hear something!

I understand completely. I have two children and student loans that must be paid from a previous college I attended. I have an Associates degree in Health Care Reimbursement and I can't even utilize it. Yes, let's keep our fingers crossed. Good Luck to you also!
