Its also about who you know..never take for granted your clinical and preceptorship experiences.Our class were so praised at one local hospital.although they say they are on a hiring freeze..they hired all the students who were interested (about 6), and it wasn't done the "natural way" it was like ok come in for a interview...so they are watching so take the opportunity to stand out.

I graduated in May..plan to take NCLEX-RN in July. I have 4 nclex books; Saunders Q&A and comprehensive review, NCLEX-RN for dummies and REA's interactive flashcards..so by june 21 I plan to have completed 5,000 practice questions( i'm finding that the test strategies are more valuable). my job is giving a 3 day NCLEX review course June 21.. so if i M NOT READY IN JULY..I HAVE ISSUES!!

Congratulations:yeah: to those accepted into Lawson state Nursing program..get ready for the ride of your life..lol here is so info 1.get started on your student heath form ASAP..you will be starting clinicals in oct. can not start with out it. need at least 2 of your hep. B series 2. books- fundamentals and health asse.0803611978(we use the same book for both), pharm. 1401888860, calculations ,1418080470 ( if your not good with math start studying now..on the first day she will give you quiz to see what you know) you will also take a 90% test in calculations you have 3 attempts to make an 90 3. CPR- ASAP ..hoover fire department has a nice one. you can reg. on their web site for those on the BHM campus see you on the 24th. in your second semester you'll be throwing the seniors a graduation party..that would be me:yeah:..any other info you need i'll try to help as much as i can..i am your big sister in nursing school:nurse:..lol

the nursing asst. school is associated with shelby ridge, a nursing home behind the shelby baptist hospital. they will pay for it if you commit to working for them for a year or you can pay 600.00 for the classes which are 2 weeks long

if you have a 401k plan you can borrow from that for school. Does jeff state have a payment plan they do at lawson.

Hi 2Nurture1, I got my acceptance letter last month:yeah:. it took me a year and a half to complete my pre-req's( it could be done sooner i took a semester off). Selection criteria for entry in to the RN program is based on a point system. 200 is the highest possible points. which is based on 1. compass reading scores (must be above 76. 99 being the highest) 2. bio201,202 and 220 grades; A=30,b=20 & c= 10 ( therefore an A in all 3 classes will give you 90 points) 3. also an extra 11 points if you completed pre-req's @ lawson state. * complete the above and keep your GPA ( must have a minimum of 2.50)up and you'll have no problems getting in. * If I can provide you with anymore info. let me know.
