Lawson state community college, Nursing Program 2016, ADN, LPN

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to start a thread for Lawson State Hopefuls Nursing Program SUMMER AND FALL 2016. Are there anyone that will be applying soon or already a Nursing student in the program already? I will be apply in a few months from now

I turned in my application for RN and will be turning in my LPN soon. But my scores were very low. I think 112 for RN and 125 for LPN. I have good grades and a good GPA.

How is the Program Lstratman? If I dont get accepted this Fall I will apply using my ACT. I felt like the teas test was a problem in my application. But hope I get in

Its challenging for sure! But doable. If you get in I would HIGHLY suggest the Saunders Nclex Review book, do as many NCLEX style questions as you can when it comes to test time, and get the HESI RN review book. This has saved me on the HESI Exams you have to take each semester. Stay focused. You can do it! I heard they are letting more in this year than last year since the curriculum is changing. So don't give up hope/faith

So nervous...I am applying to lawson for the fall. I cant stop thinking about getting my letter.

It would be nice if there was a way to find out sooner. I kinda regret not applying to both programs. Hopefully I get some good news. When should we find out? Maybe the middle of July?

Both programs as in Lpn an RN or the bham an bessemer campus ? There is only one program now. No lpn and RN. U have the choice to stop after 3 semesters an get ur lpn or go the rest of the 2 semesters an get your RN. The lady on the Bham campus said July maybe .. middle of July but she said they are going to try to get them out sooner.

The new "nursing program" want start til next year. They are still using the old requirements this year. So next year we would have to apply under the new requirements under the nursing program such as no rn and no lpn just the nursing program. But I applied for the birmingham campus. Wish I would have did the bessemer too but felt like it would be to far to commute each school day and clinicals. But now I wish I would have did both campus now

Or is they changing up the curriculum this fall too? I thought it was next year. If so thats even better

If havent noticed. You go on the website to print the app it only has one option on the app an that is RN. The woman at the bham campus told me this fall it is only one program. Just the ADN. Shelton is doing that this fall also. I think most schools are starting that this fall and they will also select more people is what the woman an shelton told me

As far as not taking the TEAS anymore that will start next spring. Nomore TEAS just ACT and you will have to make an 18. Bevill is already that way too. What schools have u all applied to? I hate I missed Bevill. It isnt too far from me. Well the one in Pickens but they had their deadline in April which I felt like was too soon.. then they extended it til May which I wish I would have known about. The bessemer campus is closer to me than the bham campus (lawson) for some reason I wasnt feeling the bham campus too much when I went to turn in my app :/

The new curriculum will NOT take place until fall 2017 incoming class. The old rules still apply for this fall.
