Hi everyone!
I'm starting this thread for students who applied to LAVC for the fall 2015 cohort! Who else is with me during this intense waiting period? What were your stats when you applied (Overall GPA, prerequisite GPA and TEAS score) let's all be motivators for one another to help us get through this agonizing wait to become RNs!!!! Rooting for all of us!

I did.I also applied to Pierce.
I had a 3.6 prereq GPA and a 3.19 overall. 80% on the TEAS. I ran out during the math section to use the bathroom and lost time lol THE WORST feeling!! I could have scored much better.
But as far as the numbers go for LAVC, as long as you qualify to apply, you automatically will get into the lottery, unlike Pierce which has a bit of a different method..not sure exactly what.
I also applied to pcc and gcc and I just received my rejection letter from GCC I'm feeling so discouraged now. all this hard work and it comes down to a lottery.
Anyone receive an invite to take the TEAS yet?
I;ve already sent them my TEAS Score
Me too, I just know that once we get the invite for the teas... It's not long after that we find out if we are in or not!
Do you know how the process is ? Is it mostly based on the GPA ? I've heard that they have a cutoff for the GPA and then if they number of people with the desired GPA are more than their available space they do the lottery
LAVC goes straight to lottery. It's quite unfair for those with higher GPAs and scores. Once you qualify for the application process your name goes in the lottery along with the rest of the pile. :/
it is based on the GPA according to this quote from LAVC website
"Nursing Program application and transcripts will be evaluated using the criteria from the Chancellor's Office Validation Study. The Chancellor's Office Validation Study is based on predicting student success in the Nursing Program. The Chancellor's Office Validation Study evaluates the student's overall grade point average (GPA), the GPA of Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, and English, and the repetitions of Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology. This evaluation criterion establishes a cut scoreâ€. Students must receive a cut score of 80 or above on the Chancellor's Office Validation Study to be considered for admission into the Nursing Program."
