Hi everyone, I made a thread for those students who are to start the LATTC nursing program Spring 2020! Hopefully this will be helpful! I applied Feb 2018 and I’m waiting for an acceptance letter. I was told I am to start Spring 2020. Hopefully I get an acceptance letter this Aug.
To be honest, be ready to wait two years y’all. That’s how long I waited. I applied Feb 2018 and I’m starting Feb 2020. While I waited I worked at a hospital and lived my best life before I sell my soul to nursing school. It would be smart, if possible for you guys, to apply to other schools while you wait. I didn’t because I didn’t feel like my grades were competitive enough.

All my friends who already completed nursing school told me it’s hard to get ahead. But you can prepare yourself by touching up on physiology, and medical terminology helps.
Radio techs make decent money! It’ll take you like a year or so to get certified. Considering that, you’d only be able to work as a radio tech for a year. If you’re ok with that, I say go for it! But that’s a whole year of not working while you’re in school.
Im not sure what position you can apply to with your degree to be honest ? I think most people use that degree to work on becoming a PT?
Honestly, I think anyone who wants to be a nurse should try becoming a CNA. It’s hard work, but very humbling. You can get the CNA certificate from a Community college that offers the program, such a Rio Hondo, in one semester. You will appreciate nursing in a different way and it will show in you when you become an RN. From what I’ve seen, nurses who were CNA’s before becoming RN’s are the better nurses because they learn to give credit and respect to the other nursing staff and the respect the patients more. On top of that, you get experience working with patients so when you start the program you won’t be afraid of diving in and getting hands on. Another plus side to it is that if you land a job in a hospital as a CNA, they’re more willing to take you as an RN. But just some words of advice for anyone who decide to become a CNA, don’t get stuck working in a nursing home. They under pay you, and the work load is ridiculous.
I hope this helps! Sorry for the long post.

The associates in RAD Tech would help if you apply to other schools too, but wouldn’t really help with the LATTC program since you’re already on the waiting list. You should be fine without it!
Also, you gave birth to a little fighter ??

You need to go down to the office. I went Friday they’re open regular business hours despite it being summer. That is crazy you should have been in by now. I applied 2/21/19 and they said I have just 2 more semesters to wait. Something happened with your application or email or something. Hurry, you may be able to get in for Spring if you go now.
