Published

Hi I made this chat so that those who applied to LA trade tech and are on the waiting list can keep current for fall next year.

Hello,

Congrats. Yes please tell us about the class we need to take before is it hard ? What is it about ? And how is eneything been so far ? Do you work while in nursing program? I’m asking before I am full time and need to know if I am able to do it part time or should I just focus on school. I managed college with good grades and work .

Hey guys! I started the program this Spring 2021. Sorry we all went MIA on the other thread, but the second we started we got swamped with all this work and things we needed to do before we started the semester! If you get accepted into fall 2021, be prepared to take a 4 week class, intro to nursing before you actually start Fall 2021. So for us we took this class in “Winter session” before we started Spring 2021. So if you start fall 2021, be prepared to take it Summer session. The thing is .... YOU MUST PASS THIS CLASS! If you don’t you won’t be able to start 1st semester and get dropped from the program. If you get accepted, BE READY to make nursing school your all! As long as you have amazing time management skills, you will be just fine ?

Welcome back Cal, please don't go MIA on us anymore. LOL... Congratulations on moving to the first semester.

Please tell us more about how well we need to prepare for the program and how are the nursing professors. Are they helpful with lectures or do you have to do most of your research. how do you study for exams? how are your cohorts?... please if you have any helpful tips let us know.

Thank you

Let’s just say this class is a 3.5 unit class in 4 weeks. All you are going to have is a midterm and a final. Just like every other nursing program, you have to get a 75% or above in each class in nursing school. Anything below a 75% you technically fail the class. I currently work 1-2 days a week. Schedule can vary depending on the teacher you get. For example I have class 3 days a week weather it be sims, clinical, or lecture. No class on Saturday or Sunday, but that can change. Honestly it’s all about your time management skills. It is a lot of material to read. During this first class you will learn what kind of learner you are. Although the pressure was on during this first class (because you Can literally get dropped from the program if you don’t pass) it really taught me to prepare for first semester. Let me tell you, the way I took notes and studied during my pre-reqs IS NOT the same way I study for nursing and you will find that out LOL. But first semester is Doable but you gotta put your effort in it too. You can’t expect and A if you don’t put in the effort. I hope this helps!!

Thank You so much ! ??? best of luck in your continuing  journey
