Hello everyone, I am applying to 4 different programs in Fall 2019. Does anyone here in the same boat with me? Lets get to know each other and share your experience. Good luck to all of you.

Thanks for the friendly reminder to schedule the counseling appointment! I'll definitely get on that.
No word from Pierce regarding an actual invitation to TEAS. I took it at Moorpark and got an 87.3% - I studied one day before the exam because I missed the email to RSVP their last testing date. ? I called as soon as I realized and they were kind enough to give me the last spot. I stayed up all night though and slept for only a few hours which was pretty awful. If I could redo it, I'd begin studying at least a week prior!

I received my status update from Pierce and have been invited to send in my TEAS score or to take the TEAS at Pierce.
Fortunately, I have taken the TEAS and my score is higher than the cutoff, so now it’s time to wait for the lottery. Good luck, everyone!

@Bosoxgirl3358 That's great! I checked my e-mail and haven't received the invite from Pierce.
I had issues with my transcripts being sent to the Pierce Admissions & Records Department and not directly to the Nursing Department so I had to do a rush order and I was only able to turn them in early this week. I wonder if I am considered ineligible to take the TEAS exam because of this, which would suck!!! I am re-taking Physio currently as well, and am worried I might not have the maximum time I want to study for it. I've purchased the ATI study guide including the 2 practice tests along with another study book that includes an additional practice exam so hopefully, it will be sufficient enough to do well.
Has everyone else gotten the formal e-mail to register for the TEAS? I'm curious if they've sent out a mass e-mail for eligible applicants or if some of us will get an e-mail in the upcoming days. Does anyone know if they will contact us if we happen to not be eligible as well??
Thanks future nurses!!
@Bosoxgirl3358 Oh sorry, and was the e-mail sent from a general Pierce e-mail address or a specific person?
I initially received the first TEAS test Invitation e-mail they sent from Stephanie Vazquez, and was in contact with her to find out how to resolve the transcript mishap. So I'm wondering if she's in charge of sending official TEAS invites also... Thanks again!!!!
Stephanie is who sent the e-mail with the status update/how to sign up for the TEAS.

For those of you who are applying to the LAVC Nursing program for Fall 2019, make sure you schedule the 1 Hour "Transcript Evaluation" appointment with the counseling office. They only make appointments every Tuesday morning 8am and the appointment is for the FOLLOWING week only. Make sure you do this ahead of time to avoid issues later. Make sure all official transcripts are sent to LAVC admissions and records, not the Nursing Department like Pierce College requires for example. They will give you an Evaluation form that you will turn in with your nursing application. Applications will be available to pick up and complete beginning April 8th.For those of you who have taken the TEAS, how did you do? What % did you score? How much time did you use to prep/study before taking it? Any tips/advice you recommend? Thank you!!-Future RN

Hello, I took my TEAS score last month on the 14th at a PSI Testing center and I got a 90.7% on my first try. I used the Mometrix ATI TEAS Guide, pocketprep (get the ultimate account option), quizlet, and the online practice exams from ATI. I started studying around December for like a week and then a couple of days during January. Then, I studied for 2 weeks straight before the exam. The reading, math, and grammar sections are very straightforward. I would recommend using pocketprep to practice the math and grammar questions. If you buy the online practice exams from ATI, I recommend taking the 1st online practice exam after you study all of the TEAS sections then take the 2nd practice exam a couple of days before you take the TEAS.
Also, if any of you want to calculate your Chancellor's Cut Score, I found this excel from Denza College and I believe it is 100% accurate. I used the excel to calculate my cut score which ended up being an 87% and LACC recently called me to tell me that I qualify for their program with an 87% so I'm sure the excel is accurate. This is the link: https://www.deanza.edu/nursing/programs.html . You have to scroll all the way down, click this "Chancellor's Formula Worksheet," and the excel will be downloaded.

What are everyone’s TEAS scores and GPA? I got a 78.8% and I’m not sure if that will be competitive enough. My science/pre-req gpa is 3.5-3.7 depending on if Chemistry is included. My overall gpa is 3.8. Feedback? When do we expect to hear back?

It’s a lottery selection, so as long as they invited you to take the TEAS or to send in your scores, and your TEAS is above the cutoff, you get entered in the random lottery.
Did you get the e-mails about the TEAS last week?
@Bosoxgirl3358 yes, I did receive that email. When schools say “lottery” I am very skeptical. If it’s a lottery then it wouldn’t take as long as it does to send out acceptance letters. I could be wrong, but I don’t trust when they say “lottery.”

I don’t know what they gain by saying it’s a lottery and then choosing based on merit. And by sending the letters later, they limit the number of people who commit and then back out because they got accepted to another school who sent their letters later.
According to last fall’s thread, they sent acceptances in early May.
@Bosoxgirl3358
very true! Ok thanks ✌?
