Are you sure you didn't forget to give the pill to him ??? I know how easy it is to just set the pill aside for him and tend to other matters, you probably just forgot and now the guilt is getting to you enough that you want to run away right ??? Fess up and be done with it is my suggestion !!
Re-read the OP. Right there in black and white it says "something I may not have had anything to do with". So there is the acknowledgment that he may have had something to do with it, but it is impossible to know. The issue at hand is that the daughter continues to harp on him, the manager doesn't seems to be blaming him just like you and there isn't any proof that the patient even ever missed a dose of the med.

Alzheimers pts pocket pills in their cheeks all the time, then spit them out later. I can't believe this manager isn't aware of this fact.
