Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to share my excitement! I got an A on my NR163 final Saturday evening!..WOOHOO
I have two more exams tonight (NR160 & COM103) and then I am officially done with my first semester! Deaconess has been a great experience so far and I am so excited about starting back in January!
Would love to hear how all my Deaconess pals are doing! So keep in touch!

Hi Cheri,
Congrats on your great experience with DCN. Getting that first semester out of the way somehow makes it more "real" if you know what I mean. Actually, I thought nur 163 was more difficult then 171, go figure
Good Luck and keep us posted. I guess our grades will be coming soon and I am sure we all did well. :)

I am so glad to hear you had a great semester. It has been hard going to class several nights a week with the program I am in now. I am really thinking of applying to Deaconess. I am sure its too late to start in January, but maybe I can start the next semester. My baby is due in April and that might be better for me to start after the baby arrives. I am worried about finding a practicum site. Do you have any advice for trying to get a hospital to support me. I sent information to one hospital, but I never heard back from them.
bmw804,
Congrats and Best Wishes on your new Baby!
Evenings away from home and rushing to class are difficult...that is why I love Deaconess. My hubby agrees it is nice that I am at home even if I am at the computer or busy reading.
Not sure how you approached sending info to the hospital but my advise is...call the HR Dept and ask for the Director of Education. If the Director is busy and you get a voicemail, leave a message and note the Directors name. In your message let the Director know you are sending the info to their attention. Next type a nice letter introducing yourself and what you want to do. Then include information about Deaconess with your letter and mail it to the Directors attention. If you need good info call Deaconess and they will send you materials. Finally, follow up your mailing with another call, give at least a week but no more than two weeks before calling to see if she received the info and had time to review it.
Don't be quick to be discouraged...be determined and confident! Best of Luck to you.

Good advice Cheri. Finding a clinical site is tough and this seems to be the biggest issue regarding the DCN program, but it can be done!

Way to go Cheri!
I was just accepted into DCN. I start in January. I'll be taking NR 160, 163, COM 103 and Psych. It is SO nice to hear you did well. I've been scared to death. Would you mind if I PMd you with questions from time to time? Nice knowing there is someone out there who has just been there, you know?
Terrific job on your exam! You are on your way now!!

Congratulation on your GREAT grade! I just got back from validations for NR170 and it was actually fun, vaalidations weren't easy but it was doable; I got to meet everyone in my class and that was fun! I also finished my finals last night and I feel relieved; didn't get an A like you but I passed!!! I'm glad to rest for a few weeks but look forward to next semester! Keep in touch.
