Hi Katie,
Is the NLN the same as the NET or as my school calls it "TEAS" = aka - Nursing Entrance Exam? We take the Exam in March and they sell a book at the college book store as a study guide. It seems to be a little bit of everything - English, Science, Math, etc.
I took their Algebra Placement Exam a few weeks ago - also purchased their study guide for that and spent a month going over it - so glad I did - it helped so much. So, if there's a book they offer to study for the Exam - go get it tomorrow - at least you'll have a day to go over it. Hope this helps. SusanNC
Thanks for your reply. I do have to study guide books that I have been looking over, and I will be spending every spare second I have between classes tomorrow to study as hard as I can, All I can think about is the fact that I HAVE to do extra well on this test......my future is dependent upon it!!!! I am sooooo scared! Katie

I always thought the NLN wasn't a pass/fail kind of test, but an average of how well you did against others in a BSN/ADN or diploma program. I know that different schools want different scores on it though.
Anyway, best of luck to you! I know how difficult it can be. I just took it in January, after not having taken it for 3 years.
Believe it or not, I had a lot of question on electricity, OHM's and that kind of stuff. I've heard several people say the same thing. Know the basics of electricity for the science portion!
Good luck!!

I also failed the NET test 2 weeks ago. Very frustrating. I was always excellent in reading, spelling, English classes, etc. and sucked in math. Well, I aced the math portion, and I cannot get the comprehension part of that test. I needed a 61% to pass, and got a 58%. So, I also plan on taking it for the second and LAST time Thursday. According to the national standards for the NET, I passed it all w/ flying colors, but my school has a higher passing rate.
I feel your pain!!!

Hi, I took my NLN test in December knowing that I would fail because I did not study for it. When I took it I felt very relaxed. Everyone around me was so uptight that they were biting their nails and figeting. My best advise is to study and not take it like your life depends on passing it. You will feel more relaxed and will be able to concentrate better. Best of Luck!!!. I did pass the test by the way and i'm just waiting to see if I passed my interview and am accepted. Again, breath, relax and hope for the best while preparing for the worst!!!!

Just go over the study guide fairly well. Practice your math. Look over the science stuff to refresh yourself, etc. Then the day before the test, don't look at any of it. Take the day to relax & don't even think of the test. Then the day of the test, go in relaxed & don't sweat it. If you don't know a question, skip it & move on. If you have time at the end, go back to the skipped questions & see if you can't figure it out. It's really not too terrible. I think the big thing is that test anxiety can do people in. I was totally relaxed & scored in the 98-99th percentile...and that's after not being in school for 9-10 years. Just relax & you'll be fine.
I've been hitting the math and science fairly hard, i feel I need 90% or higher.
Thanks amy

I took it a year and a half ago. At that time I didn't have any of my bio or A&P and hadn't taken a math class in 7 years so I was a little rusty. I passed it but at my school for certain averages you get a certain number of bonus points. I'm retaking it in March just to see if I can get bonus points...even though I found out I don't really need to but it's paid for so I'm taking it. I'm hoping the stress won't be there so I might do much better.

Make sure you study basics in A&P, Physics (very basic), Electricity, Chemistry and Biology for the science section.
Algebra and geometry for the math section, and understand your word problems.
Reading Comprehension and vocabulary, pretty self-explanatory.
I passed with the same percentiles as AmyLiz, and at the same school. I thought it was more difficult than Amy thought it was, but then again, I had been out of school for 20 years and had not yet taken A&P.
Get a nursing entrance exam study guide. They help.
Good luck and happy studying! :)
