Hello all,

I wanted to start a thread for those of us who are starting at LaSalle's PT evening and weekend program this fall. I was accepted a few weeks ago, and I'm currently working on my compliance forms. Any one else in the same boat? Congrats and looking forward to meeting you!

Cool! Don't worry about the noncompliant thing - mine still says that because I submitted my last PPD reading on Saturday and they haven't updated yet. Hopefully I'll be compliant later today! Wanna exchange emails?

Hey Everyone,

I know a few people have asked so...when I got my acceptance letter it came with a green paper that said Flynn & O'Hara (the uniform supplier) will be on campus on July 12 from 3:00-6:00 PM in the nursing lab of St. Benilde Tower, 3rd floor, room 3317. Enclosed was an order form with a number of items listed, although I'm not sure what is exactly mandatory.

Now, I have a question- has everyone who turned in their deposit been registered? I sent mine in a few weeks ago but according to mylasalle.edu, I'm still not registered! How long after you sent in your deposit were you registered?

Hey, I sent my deposit before registration opened in June, so I can't tell you how long it takes. I would email Kristen to confirm. She is the one who registered me.

Hi everyone!

I'm also starting the Achieve program in the Fall. I've gotten everything in (but am in the middle of my hepatitis series, so I've got another 4 months before that will be done).

I don't think I'm going to be able to go to the uniform fitting today :-( It says it's "mandatory" on the Flynn O'Hara sheet, but I remember Kristin saying that we should "try to be there" - so it never struck me as that mandatory and now it's going to be tough to get there, because of a project at work. ANYWAY... UNIFORMS! do you guys know if white Dansko clogs (with the backs - the full clogs) are ok? They're the most comfortable shoes for me, and I'd rather have them than anything else.

Also, can you guys let me know the details about uniforms after the fitting? I'm not that concerned about fit, but quality and price. Don't the prices for Flynn O'Hara seems a bit high? Is it a big deal to get the same color scrub pants elsewhere at least? I understand there are patches on the shirts and jacket, so we have to go through them for those pieces.

And stethescopes! I'm excited to get mine - does anyone have recommendations? I'm pretty sure I want a Littman, but I don't know how high quality I should have for nursing.

And one more question: does anyone know yet which days our clinicals fall on? I'm getting married on 9/29 - obviously this was planned for a while, so I'd like to let them know ASAP, who should I tell?

I'd also love to meet up prior to classes starting! Do we have anything set up yet?

So... I don't have an answer for all of your questions. I was going to ask Kristen about the Dansko shoes because those are what I want, too.

I don't think the uniform prices seem too high.. if you got to the Flynn and O'hara website and register, you'll be able to see pictures of the uniforms and the prices.

They are offering two different stethoscopes, so I'm wondering if we need both (one is lightweight). Are you buying yours from someplace else?

From my understanding, clinicals can fall on a Saturday and Sunday every other weekend, or a Saturday OR Sunday every weekend. I don't think they've made the clinical assignments yet. I would ask Kristen about 9/29.

I got an email from Kristen, and she said they should be fine, but she's forwarding it to the Director to confirm. If you go to the Sanita outlet online, you can get them for way way less (Sanita and Dansko were the same company but then they split - the shoes are exactly the same)

I've had to wear scrubs before for work, so I'm used to price hunting for them I guess. Maybe I'll suck it up and just get them. Can you tell my Scottish Father taught me my money management skills? hahaha

I think I may go to Redding Medical for my stethoscope - they have very competitive prices and they offer some good engraving services, which seems to be a good idea since it sounds like people can lose their stethoscope pretty easily if it's not labelled very well.

Hey all, I am officially starting in the fall as well!! I emailed Kristen and she said for those that could not come today you will get the flyer and also can go to any of their stores. Since I had a stethoscope, shoes etc from my other program I am glad I dont have to get them lol I was hoping to go but due to an emergency I could not make it. I also hope I can wear my navy scrub pants as well. One less thing to buy...

I heard back from Kristin - the danskos/sanitas are ok. YAY! and clinicals are every other weekend starting September 8th. Good news! I wont' have to make up clinical for my wedding!
