Nursing school is something that is very difficult and a huge commitment. I am graduating this December from La Salle. There were many people is my class who had major life events and progressed. There were some who didn't pass in their senior year.No program is going to be easy and if they make it easy for you run! Ultimately the goal is to become a nurse. Someone's life will be in your hands and you will need and want those qualifications to help them. Yes there are associates programs, but you will not be hired at a magnet hospital. Most new graduate associate nurses find jobs at nursing homes and small community hospitals. We had many people who were "non medical" and they did just fine. As far as the accreditation is concerned at La Salle there are no issues at this time and they have changed the issues that placed them on probation.The current classes have testing scores that have exceeded previous alumni. One word of advice for those attending. Make sure you stay on too of them. If you don't hear back, call. If they don't answer stop by. There have been some recent changes with administrative staff, but the professors are awesome and know their stuff. Good luck!

I almost forgot! Don’t worry about all of your clearances being done before the interview! Once you are accepted, you have to register with a website designated by LaSalle and they have to get all of the clearances over the summer before you start in the fall. A word of advice: the child abuse clearance takes about 6 weeks so def request that at the beginning of the summer (May time). Also you will need an up to date PPD, physical and will need medical insurance or insurance through the school. So you might want to start to think about that now so you are not running around all summer! ( La Salle provides the forms once you are accepted)

Ashley_nicole, They do a group info session and then they will call each of you individually into the office to "interview you" I remember being asked why I wanted to be a nurse etc. A bit of advice: Dress professionally ( not a suit, but not jeans) bring perhaps a resume and maybe a cover letter. This might help you stand out bit and show your seriousness. You have to stay on top of them, but in general you should be in. They will not say congrats you are excepted, but will tell you that final decisions will be made by early May/end of April and you will get a letter in the mail. I was terrified I didnt get in. My science GPA was 3.75 and NLN was 137. (I got accepted without a problem)

They just updated the MyLaSalle portal. If you follow the links, it will guide you through the email and password set up process. A word of advice: have a backup email, gmail, aol, whatever and set that as your 2nd email. I am not a huge fan of checking email through the portal as it can be slow. Check your browser too. Internet explorer works the best with the portal. For security reasons it does not do well with other browsers. krd 1984, the best bet would be to email Kristin Delay about registration problems etc. She is reasonable to email. I too can see the classes that I am enrolled in, but not in black board. It is common to not see your classes until the first day of school. (Which is difficult because I am sure most of us are the type of students who read the syllabus before the first day LOL.)

Has anyone received the uniforms and if so how long did it take to get them? I went to the fitting in July and paid the deposit and was told that I should wait for the bill to come in the mail. I still don't have it! I emailed the company And they sent it to me in email format. Just so we are clear orientation is next Thursday right?

Yes same schedule! 304 on Tues and 307 on Thursday

hey all, yes i got a formal letter. i know this is late but what about the health clinic at lasalle for the immunizations? i have had all of my immunizations through work (i work at a hospital), but am shaking my head running around for the ppd, titers, etc... i did not get the "official" letter until the end of may and i don’t think they even finalized the database until the end of may. now it is down to the deadline and i need the second ppd (sched. for next week) and am waiting for my cpr card in the mail. are we penalized if we don’t have them? school starts in august so i am assuming that if we have everything done and are waiting for paperwork is it an issue. i will have it all latest by july 15, but goodness a month is not enough time. oh well. and goodness $200 bucks to miss a clinical!

Hey! I will be starting in the fall too! I am a little bummed. I requested all of the clearances myself and now I have to redo them through the service... bummer. i saw that the deadline is not until Aug 1 for all clearances and titers... Is that accurate? Looking forward to meeting you all!

Winterlights :I have my interview next Wednesday I am very excited. How did it go for you? IsItPossible: I am very hopeful! I am more than ready to start! All pre reqs were taken at La Salle my GPA is >3.3 Science >3.3 and I have over 7 years healthcare experience in the OR I am hoping they will consider expereince over a stellar academic record. How long after your interview were you accepted/ got your letter?
