Language proficiency for International students

Published

I am an international student in Canada. I recently passed Nclex and Jurisprudence exam and left with language proficiency. one of criteria of language proficiency is that your employer sent a reference letter to cno and I wanna ask if any RN went through this process. can you please care to tell me did cno accept that letter and how much time it took for you to get approved from cno? I will wait for your response.

I shall be really very thankful to you for your help.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

The only agency qualified to offer a valid response is the College of Nurses of Ontario. No one here knows you or how your status was assessed. No one here can assess whether you effectively demonstrate linguistic proficiency in English or French.

What kind of employment do you have? If you work as a food server or cashier I wouldn't count on that being accepted as proof of language proficiency. You say you are an international student, what kind of student are you? is the course in English? does your course meet the English proficiency requirement?

I am working as Physiotherapy Assistant in Mississauga. yes I did Bsc Nursing from India in 2012. My whole course was in English. But cno accepted it within 2 years. I came here in 2015 when it was already expired. I worked there as a staff nurse for three years.

Good luck, I hope your work as a physiotherapy assistant will be accepted as proof of English.

How did you become a physiotherapy assistant? did you take a PTA program?

Yes I did PTA from my back home.
