Hey there,

I'm pretty sure BIOL 1190 & 1191 equivalent to SFU is either BPK 105 & 325 or BPK 205 & 326.

But I recommend double checking with Langara for that one!

English 1123 equivalent is ENGL 199

May I ask where you got this information? I don't see anywhere on Langara's site that ENGL 1123 is equivalent to ENGL 199, for example.

No problem. I checked the BCIT nursing requirements and what they have seems to match Langara's prerequisites also.

Yes, they seem quite similar ?

Hey leco,

I just checked the fall 2021 intake thread and apparently those BPK courses are not transferrable ?

Hi everyone ?

I'd like to apply to Langara (don't know exactly which semester yet) but I need some help understanding the admission requirements. I am currently attending SFU. I used the BC Transfer Guide and noticed that for a lot of the required courses, there aren't any equivalent courses at SFU (e.g. There is no course I can take at SFU to fulfill the BIOL 1191 requirement).

How can I apply to Langara if this is the case? I'm very lost right now and would appreciate any help! ?

Hi @leco I’m currently in the BSN program at Langara, and also am an SFU graduate ? went through the same struggle as there were no direct equivalents to the pre-requisites at SFU! Fortunately because my health sciences degree overlapped with a few courses, my STATS and ENGL were able to be used to apply to BSN. But I did not want to take multiple BPK courses to fulfill the BIOL requirement, so I did these two courses at VCC and transferred them back over to SFU to fulfill my degree requirements! I see that you already did the BPK’s so that’s great!

but I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest emailing a Langara advisor about the transfer eligibility as well. Many advisors seem to give information that can be different as the transfer eligibility requirements seem to be constantly updated. I was fortunate to email advisors early on with them stating that my course would be eligible, meaning that I had proof in writing through this email to honour this transfer course, even if it was not eligible now. Of course this depends on each intake, and how lenient they can be for that specific term. Goodluck!

hey guys! I applied for the Fall 2021 intake and just found out yesterday that I got waitlisted, so I reapplied for Jan2022 intake. Does anyone know where we can see what place we're in for the waitlist? Also, I've already retaken all 5 of the pre-reqs, so I'm kinda at a loss of what I can do to increase my GPA to the competitive GPA... :(

Hey sammi,

At least you got waitlisted! There’s still a chance. Don’t lose hope! You’ll get that phone call!! ? I don’t think you can see what place you are currently at for the waitlist.

If it doesn’t work out, try retaking the courses again at another institution. You got this! And January intakes tend to not be that competitive so you definitely have a chance!

What GPA do you have?

Aw thanks for your positivity! I have 3.5 but I still have to take my finals for Biol1191 and Eng1129 so hopefully I'll get a higher mark this time around ?

Hi!

I'm applying with a 3.666 GPA and I'm also worried it might not be competitive enough? I applied for the Fall 2021 intake but I'm currently waitlisted

Hey everyone!

I've applied for Spring as well, 3.73.  Eek, wishing us all the best of luck!

Hi guys!

I am applying with a 3.6 GPA and I am so worried it will not be high enough:(

Hey! I noticed you also applied to the fall 2021 intake. If you don’t mind me asking did you apply to that intake with a 3.73, or did you upgrade your pre reqs for the Spring intake?

I retook a course this Spring, just in case.  Lucky I did, I had a 3.6 and was waitlisted for fall:)

OK that makes more sense, I thought it was weird others got in with the same GPA and you didn’t. But that’s awesome! Both GPA’s you applied with are great?
