Hi Langara hopefuls!
I know it's early, but I wanted to start a thread for September 2020 intake because I'm currently ramping up to apply and getting excited!
I'm taking A+P at the moment, and will be taking 3 other prereqs in the fall at TRU. I have a couple of college certs, some uni credits, but no degree yet.
Anyone else out there prepping and getting ansy?

Awesome thanks!
Also wondering if you know since they changed the admission requirement from CPR HCP to CPR BLS, since I just finished the hcp one awhile ago would I have to retake the firstaid and CPR course? o.o

I literally did the same thing! So to my understanding, the first aid is good for 3 years. The HCP/BLS CPR is only valid for 1 year, so upon acceptance, you'll likely have to renew it anyway if you already hold it since it'll be expiring. But, I was told that BLS is basically the new HCP, so the material should be equivalent!
So you wouldn't have to redo the first aid portion, just the CPR

If we are a returning student from Langara do we still have to send transcript?
thanks!
EducationBC is the only way and if you’re already a Langara student they take care of transcripts and everything!

HAHA me too ... I'm just bummed that the application is open for so long that we won't even know for January semester. Do yall think I should play it safe and register to redo 1191 incase I don't get in?

UGH I KNOW! basically 6 months and it's already killing me! And well I suppose that depends on how you feel about your current GPA/1191 grade. As long as you're confident it would help your grade and not hurt it! Because they take the most recent grade.
Personally, I'm taking biomedical ethics in January to avoid taking it in semester 6/7 of the program when the course load is already big enough!

I'm kinda kicking myself for not retaking it this semester, I'm currently taking biomedical ethics right now and during fall registration time I didn't think I needed to redo 1191 so now I just delayed myself another semester...

Oooh okay I see your predicament! Do you mind me asking what gpa you're currently applying with?
I mean, other than the money aspect, and your time of course, there's no harm in taking it again to play it safe. Worst case scenario, you don't get accepted for Fall, but because you retook 1191 in January and got a better grade, your chance for January acceptance hopefully increases.

Ya that's true, I just feel like its a lot of time I'm not using wisely but if I get in the next take then it'll be all worth it I guess. I'm currently at a 3.33, I messed up my final this Summer and I would've been at 3.4. I thought I was safe because at the last intake one of my friends got in with that GPA.
So for January, I need to fix my 1191 mark cause it's dragging my GPA down..

When I was mapping out what GPA I was hoping for/what I needed to get to attain a certain GPA for applying, I used one of those GPA calculators and just threw in different potential grades to see how the grade would increase/decrease! Might help to see how upgrading any of the prereqs might help! ?
https://www.calculator.net/GPA-calculator.html I found this one the easiest!
And don't give up hope yet! It really depends on the varying GPAs that this intake brings!
