Langara Fall 2017

Published

Hi!

It's super early but I wanted to start a thread for those planning to apply to Langara for the Fall 2017 intake!

I am finishing one last prerequisite and will be applying as soon as applications open in November.

Who else is going to apply to this intake?!

When I asked an advisor about gpa cut off on the 20th, I was told they hadn't started reviewing and that it would be 4 weeks until they start sending out offers... :dead: The uncertainty is the worst part!

I did not apply langara this time because I thought the cut off would like 3.8/3.9. After this term, I will apply with a gpa of 3.6 maybe. Also I had applied at VCC and all my courses were taken at vcc. I was so upset when I was told the waitlist is 3-4 yrs. It is super long because VCC accepts only 24 BSN students annually and only one intake. The number of students who take A&P 1 &2 at vcc is like over 200 a year. VCC is unable to accept all its potential nursing students who take their prerequisites. In this situation, if you take courses at vcc, you either wait for at least two years or get an A+ and then go to other schools right away. In most cases, if you think you can get into the VCC nursing within a year, that is unrealistic.

What!! They actually haven't started reviewing applications? Wonder how long we have to wait :(

Only 24 students a year?! That's a really limited intake at VCC considering how many students apply for nursing programs and are able to take pre-nursing courses... :/ I'll be an old lady before I get in there lol.

Let's hope application reviews went quicker than expected and they send out offers this week... :D:yes:

I am thinking the exact same! 24 is such a small number of seats offered. I wonder if majority of the seats are allocated for LPNs doing the transition program...

A friend told me that more seats are offered for the year 1 BSN program than the LPN to RN transition program in VCC. My friend told me, that by ratio, if you wait 2 years to get in the year 1 BSN, yould have to wait 4 years for the transition program in VCC. Im not very sure if this is true but what my friend said seemed logical to me.

The advanced entrance of BSN at vcc does not open all the time. When I was taking A&P at vcc, many of classmates are Lpn and doing the bridging. The waiting list of the advanced entrance is long too.

Guys, I got my acceptance e-mail this morning!

Anyone else?!
