Langara Fall 2018 Intake

Hey guys,

I'm applying to Langara for the fall 2018 intake. Just wondering if there's anyone else on here that's applying too?

Hi! did anyone email you back yet? Because i emailed them a few days ago about reactivating my application and I haven't got a reply yet..

Did you fill out and attach the Reactivation Request Form?: https://langara.ca/departments/registrar-and-enrolment-services/student-forms/reactivate-application.pdf

Did anyone hear from Langara yet? Anyone got in from the waitlist?

Looks like LPNtoRN was accepted into BCIT, right? If so, that should open up a spot. From what I read the lowest GPA accepted so far is 3.56 so you may have a shot. There are still 4 months before the semester starts so don't lose heart, but have a back-up plan, just in case. It's difficult to not know!

Thanks Allie-he! Will not lose hope specially now that other schools sent their aceptance so hoping for other students who got accepted in either bcit or ubc to drop their spot here in Langara. I also already applied for the January 2019, so we will have to see :) thank u and goodluck to everyone:)

did anyone with a 3.5 gpa get accepted yet??

Got in from the waitlist with a 3.53!

with no prior degree?? but congrats! When did you get your acceptance after getting waitlisted?

Oh wow, that's odd... I have a slightly higher gpa than 3.53 but i'm still on the waitlist : /

Would you guys know if the wait list position is based on other things and not just gpa?

i thinnk they look at how long it took you to finish the 5 prereq courses and if you retook any courses.

I got the email on Tuesday. No prior degree. And thanks!

Yeah I'm not too sure how it works with the waitlist... If it helps, this is my second time applying, I have 30+ post-secondary credits, and retook one course. But from an email I got, they only really say that GPA and a previous degree are what are taken into account.

Also included in the email (this was when I applied to the Jan18 intake): "Applicants do not always let us know that their plans have changed. For example at the end of November when we review registration lists we may discover they did not register for classes; or they do register but then in December when fees are due we discover that they did not pay."

So don't lose hope!

congratulations for getting in, and yeah i hope langara gives us news about our applications asap. i won't lose hope!

You'll probably get in eventually! Did you repeat any courses, if you don't mind me asking? I'm really curious because they always say that they only take the 5 pre reqs into consideration and yet people with slightly lower gpa are getting in first

They round GPA to the third decimal, if that makes a difference for some of you. I asked a Langara advisor, and they said the only time they would ever look at how many times you repeated a course is if you have the exact same GPA as another applicant. Other than that (and if you have previous degree of course), they don't take the number of credits, volunteer hours, or anything else into consideration.
